Delonghi Bar 14 Café Treviso

Delonghi Bar 14 Café Treviso

I've relied on this wonderful machine near-daily for over 18 months and it continues to produce great espresso and cappuccino whenever I need my caffeine fix. The Cafe Trevisio checks all the right boxes: a full 15 bar pump, filters for 1 or 2 cups, a steam nozzle and variable steam control dial, tamping pad and a decent size water tank. It takes a few shots to get the art of tamping right to suit your taste and to get the hang of heating the milk to the right temperature (or invest in a thermometer as I have done) but once you've nailed it you can impress all your friends with your skills as a barista! Reassuringly, you can obtain spare parts of almost every bit of this machine, so even if the dishwasher eats one of the filters or something you can pick up a replacement at a sensible price. If you love coffee and need a machine that won't let you down you could do a lot worse than the Cafe Treviso.

Whether you are a cafe owner, a competitive barista, or an amateur enthusiast, The Professional Barista's Handbook written by Scott Rao is the most important resource you can have to improve your coffee-making skills. The book explains the science behind espresso and drip coffee brewing, how to pour latte art, how to evaluate equipment, and every other important aspect of making great espresso, drip coffee, and tea. No doubt that this is a book which covers everything and each topic is dealt with in great detail: percolation, dosing, the methods for levelling the ground coffee in the filter-holder, pressing and, it goes without saying, everything which has got to do with preparing an espresso and there is also a chapter on tea. The Professional Barista's Handbook is a must have coffee reference! After reading all of those books, however, I felt as if I hadn’t learned much about how to make great coffee. My coffee library was chock-full of colourful descriptions of brewing styles, growing regions, and recipes, with a few almost-unreadable scientific books mixed in. I would have traded in all of those books for one serious, practical book with relevant information about making great coffee in a café. Fourteen years later, I still haven’t found that book. I know many other professionals as well as some obsessive nonprofessionals would like to find that same book I’ve been looking for. This book is my attempt to give it to them.“ Scott Rao Origin USA

The REVELATION KIT by LE NEZ DU CAFE is a coffee aroma kit with 36 aromas to describe with ease the most typical aromas in the world’s finest coffees. Among espresso lovers it is a bit like being among wine connoisseurs. One wants to be able to define various coffee aromas and describe the tastes with an accurate vocabulary ( I don't want to say boast with ones knowledge). It is a very advanced kit that will help even professional coffee tasters like baristas or coffee roasters.

Make coffee like a true barista, "pulling" an espresso with a lever instead of punching a button and relying on an automatic pump's whims. By forcing water through the coffee yourself, using the lever to precisely control speed, you get the full flavor and thick cap of crema that are the hallmarks of a perfect espresso. It's got a pressure gauge and burnished brass housing, polished wood handles, and a steam-control knob, this machine looks like it's from the 19th century, but it operates with 21st-century reliability. "Pulling an espresso the old-fashioned way is enormously gratifying, and the video that accompanies this machine will teach anyone the skills needed to become a true barista. This machine will look gorgeous in your kitchen and is sure to please even your most gastronomically correct friends." --Fred Brack
