You can now download a trial version of the Spore Creature Creator or buy a full for $9.95 and spend HOURS crafting your own critters in preparation for the full release of Spore in September. YouTube is already flooded with videos of new species. If you've somehow missed it: Spore enables you to create creatures and then guide them through varying stages of evolution. The 3D modeling is *amazing* (you can make vehicles, cities and more all through an easy interface) and the gameplay is exactly the kind of creative, open-ended "project" I like. Fun for the whole family.
