Certainly one of the funniest movies ever made, but it also has an often overlooked, but tightly wound and very enjoyable plot. The dude just wants his rug back. Hilarity ensues.

And who could forget Pete and Pete, the red-haired brothers? I remember this show being very quirky...the mom had metal plates in her head that were pesky around magnetic objects.

For me, this was the first Cohen Brothers film I saw. In no questionable way, it transformed me into a lifetime fan. And, even though it was made over 20 years ago, it remains one of the funniest films I've ever seen.

I actually own this DVD because when my job gets me down all I have to do is watch Office Space and suddenly my life doesn't suck as much as I thought it did. Also, I always put a cover on my TPS reports.

Our wandering hero in this case is one Ulysses Everett McGill, a slick-tongued wise guy with a thing about hair pomade (George Clooney, blithely sending up his own dapper image) who talks his chain-gang buddies (Coen-movie regular John Turturro and newcomer Tim Blake Nelson) into lighting out after some buried loot he claims to know of. En route they come up against a prophetic blind man on a railroad truck, a burly, one-eyed baddie (the ever-magnificent John Goodman), a trio of sexy singing ladies, a blues guitarist who's sold his soul to the devil, a brace of crooked politicos on the stump, a manic-depressive bank robber, and--well, you get the idea. A chilling, amusing and near perfect film with enough quirks and foibles to give the audience a sense of otherworldiness. Film noir set in a rural part of the country and the hero is a very pregnant, tough-as-nails cop. Who else b... Film noir set in a rural part of the country and the hero is a very pregnant, tough-as-nails cop. Who else but the Coen Brothers could come up with something like this? I grew up pretty close to North Dakota, just over the border in Saskatchewan. So much about Fargo hit home for me when I first saw it. Saskatchewan winters are just like this, and while the accents where I come from aren't quite as distinctive, they're still very similar.

This is the story of Timothy Treadwell, the self proclaimed Grizzly expert who thought that through some dillusional right or privilege, he could 'save' the bears. I guess they didn't want his 'help' because they ate him. And his girlfriend too. Eesh. This is a great, awkward and unsettling documentary by none other than Werner Herzog. Of course.
