Trestlewood
The tens of millions of board feet of Douglas fir that supported the Southern Pacific trestle across the Great Salt Lake account for the bulk of the inventory at Trestlewood, a salvage operation with offices in Idaho and Utah. Salts and other trace minerals in the lake water produce unusual color values in the wood--gray to purple to gold--also renowned for its strength. Since 1996, the company has supplemented its stock with mammoth beams extracted from docks and warehouses, redwood from commercial pickle vats, a ready supply of disused farm buildings, sawmills and telegraph poles and massive logs of heart and white pine lifted from northern riverbeds.

It looks like it's perfectly stained and left with the natural rough finish. Plus it has a satiny feel to it when you walk on it. On a construction note, it can be placed directly over existing vinyl or other flooring due to it's floating installation. Thus it's super easy to install and great for basements that may get flooded occasionally.

I really love to walk on antique pine smooth from age. I like looking across boards when I walk in a room. What's It's Worth gets beautiful pine such as this from old buildings.
