They isolate the sound so all you're hearing is you're music, not anything that's happening around you. Shure as a company is also very reliable - if something breaks they will fix it for free and possibly send you a whole new pair. Great earbuds, to say the least!

These Bose headphones are fantastic for blocking out the noisy drone of jet engines during long flights. They are also very comfortable on your ears, so you can wear them for long periods of time. I also tend to wear them in the office which allows me to focus on my work without being distracted by the sounds of a typical office.

Every time I move my mouse around, it sends static through the headphones. Insert this puppy into a USB port, select it as your audio output device, and set the volume LOW, because it has some serious gain. You'll be listening to glitch-free audio in no time. Plugged right in to my ubuntu linux system and worked without a hitch. This is much cheaper than the HeadRoom Total BitHead Headphone Amp and it did everything I needed.

You bought the nice headphones for your MP3 player or computer, but you're not hearing everything properly yet. Sure--it all seems fine, but you'll notice a big improvement in sound quality with a real (albeit miniature) power amp driving your tunes. Connects via audio cable to your MP3 player or via USB to your computer (bypassing your built-in sound card entirely). Needs four AAA batteries if not drawing power from your computer.

I must have had these headphones about 4 years now and they are still going strong. Although I rarely DJ out any more at the peak of their use though they were going on the road about once a fortnight but they've been hammered hard at home on a regular basis. Good DJ headphones should be able to withstand the loudest mixer signals without distortion and the SEDJ-5000's are comfortably up to the task. (Your ears on the other hand are not - you have been warned!) Beyond their ability to take a good pumping these headphones have some nice design features to set them apart from the rest. There's a belt clip and coiled cable that extends to give you a good 2 metres radius around the DJ booth and springs back rather than dragging on the floor like most headphone leads. One of the cups has a pad for resting against your shoulder for that nonchalant DJ look as you cue the records, and there's a switch on the other cup to convert the signal to mono should you encounter a really old mixer that uses split monitoring. My only small gripe is that the SEDJ-5000's do not come with a case or bag. So if you ever see me out with a box of records in one hand, and a large ball of bubble wrap and duct tape in the other you'll know what's inside it!

Forget noise canceling and earbuds and Bose, these are better. Try them out - everyone I've recommended them to has been instantly hooked.

They effectively block out background sound w/out forcing you to blast out your eardrums. The sound quality is very clear w/surprisingly good bass for such tiny speakers (I listen to a lot of electronica w/pounding beats so good bass is essential for me). Handles more delicate classical music well too. Also, they are super-comfortable and lightweight- ideal for endurofest rides and runus. The extralong cord is nice but can get tangled a bit too easily
