iittala kivi votive
At first glance, these votive candle holders look rather ordinary, but their appearance will decieve. Made in Finnland by none other than iittala, each votive (er, tealight) holder is made from lead-free crystal. Its thick walls diffuse light beautifully in day and especially at night. Each is quite hefty - not what you'll find in the bins of your typical candle joint. Reasonably priced, these icons of Nordic design are perfectly suited for casual and formal settings. Did I mention these are made by iittala and Marimekko. Thats right iittala AND Marimekko. You can find pairs of two in boxes decorated with Marimekko prints that coordinate with the glass color.

This is truly a delight to use, and using it at breakfast gets my day of to a better start. Designed in 1971 by Finnish designer Nanny Still, Mango is an icon of modern design.

There's something so classic about having all-white tableware settings. I love the deep curves and geometric spouts of the Arabia set by iittala.

My husband surprised me with the Iittala vase filled with wild flowers from a farmer's market and they looked absolutely STUNNING. There's so many ways you can arrange the flowers in this vase (and they all look great!), and although it's a large vase, it looks nice filled with a whole bouquet of flowers or a few simple stems.
