Bobby (2006)

The story of the assassination of U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy, on June 6th, 1968, which centers around 22 people who were at the Ambassador Hotel where he was killed. The film stars Harry Belafonte as Nelson, Joy Bryant as Patricia, Nick Cannon as Dwayne, Emilio Estevez as Tim Fallon, Laurence Fishburne as Edward Robinson, Brian Geraghty as Cooper, Heather Graham as Angela and Anthony Hopkins as John Casey. We went to see it this past week and it is very powerful movie that concentrates on the 20 people in and around the Ambassador Hotel the day Robert Kennedy was shot there. All the characters are well developed and sensitively played by a fantastic and superb cast. We highly recommend this movie and on a scale from 1 to 5, give it a 5. Great, great movie!

Sweet but kind of disturbing and not to mention gory. Rated R and definately not for those under 17. FYI: Apparently the book this was based off of was written long before the Twilight novels. I highly recommending seeing this one since we're all pretty familiar with formulaic Hollywood conventions when it comes to movie making of any genre. Treat yourself to something unique. This one is a must see.

This thriller had me scratching my head and figuring out what was going on until the very end. Well done. This movie is a psychological thriller about a wealthy, corporate type who is given an unusual gift by his brother (Sean Penn). The gift is an exclusive kind of real life, real time game for high powered richies. However things go wrong and Douglas (and the audience) can't tell what's a part of the game and what isn't. This is a great psychological thriller from the director that gave us Seven.

PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE - Helen Mirren I feel Oscar performance for Helen Mirren on her portrayal of the Queen as Princess Diana's distant mother-in-law. Following Diana's shocking death on August 30, 1997, the Queen seemed strikingly out of touch with her people and prime minister, Tony Blair. She retreated to Balmoral, Scotland, unwilling to shed a public tear over the death of her former daugher-in-law. Mirren herself has asked that question: 'Does it hurt her to show a little emotion? Isn't that what she's there for?' The movie is a very good and intimate reflection of the battle between private and public, responsibility and emotion, rituals and action as a grieving nation waits to see what its leaders will do. Absolutely recommend!!
