The First Days of Spring: Noah and The Whale
Their first album wasn't the most critically acclaimed, but damn it, it was fun. This, their follow up, is appreciated a little more, but is, frankly, a lot less fun. Don't get me wrong, it's still good, but just not as fun. And, in this case, I'd prefer fun.

Their ingenious electronica-based rock and intensely intimate lyricism had me hooked instantly. Kind of Coldplay-ish.

Last I heard, Chester French wasn't that cool back in 2008, but this album is freaking good. They've got kind of a Beach Boys meets Belle and Sebastian thing going on, but with unexpected jazz rifts and electronica.
