This album serves as proof that heartbreak can can completely change you. In this case it was Sufjan Stevens' seguefrom shy indie kid to weird, auto-tune-using rock star. Completely unexpected, but just right.

Their ingenious electronica-based rock and intensely intimate lyricism had me hooked instantly. Kind of Coldplay-ish.

Last I heard, Chester French wasn't that cool back in 2008, but this album is freaking good. They've got kind of a Beach Boys meets Belle and Sebastian thing going on, but with unexpected jazz rifts and electronica.
