INGRID MICHAELSON: Girls and Boys
If you're not swooning over her voice yet, you're late. Sure, her songs tend toward the depressing, but they're great. I just saw her live last night, and she is even better stripped down, with just her clear melodic voice flying out over the crowd (plus a ukulele and guitar or piano). Not only does she sing like a nightingale, but she's adorable as all get out and even acts as a bit of a stand up comic. I want her to be my best friend. Seriously. If you like even one of her songs and see she's performing in your area, get your tickets now. She'll be huge soon and you can say you got to see her perform for a crowd of 100 or whatever. And who doesn't like knowing about things first? You're in for a super treat if you see her with Greg Laswell (the clown in her "The Way I Am" video, who is very talented himself). Again, he is even better when there is minimal back up to hide his sexy crooning and haunting (and yes, depressing, again) song writing. Can you tell I'm smitten?
