SKII Airtouch Foundation

SKII Airtouch Foundation

This foundation is the best. I came upon this by accident, when I went to replace my liquid foundation. The results after seeing it and trying it, were fabulous. I use it over my moisturizer, but you probably get even better results over your reqular foundation, however, that procedure makes no sense to me. It is quick, easy, and not messy. Holy, moly it is expensive, but the refills are not. I would call it an investment. It is such a unique system, that it surely will peak your interest. The procedure is different than what you are use to. It gives your skin a flawless look without using a liquid that you have to blend or a powder foundation which is drying and heavy. I suggest giving it a try, but I can't imagine you not liking it. I'm hooked.

I have always been big fan of Sue Devitt's products because they are innovative, luxurious, effective and provide real benefits for the skin. I used this finishing mist as the final step in my makeup application each day. I loved how it gave my skin a true, luminous glow without shimmer or particles and really hydrated my skin. This is perfect for those of you with dry skin and/or fine lines. I loved using this in the morning and I could really see the difference in how fresh my makeup looked by the end of the day (even in very high temps!). I also loved using this in the late evening (sometimes just out of the fridge so it nice and cold) just to perk up my skin a little more before going out. It evaporated instantly and felt weightless on my skin. I found that no more than 4-5 sprays is all that was needed for the finishing effect.(More than that and I did get a slightly sticky feeling --however, even that went away after a few minutes). It did not irritate my skin and the effect always looked so natural and healthy. This can also be used to moisten your powder/foundation if it looks to dry/cakey as well. This is a luxury that any true makeup fan will realize is absolutely worth the price to make your makeup look it's best and get the most mileage out of it!

For a convenient way to touch up discoloration, blemishes and under eye circles, nothing beats Bobbi's new Face Touch Up Stick! This concealer is in a small twist up stick which I would apply directly if I was on the go, or with the touch up brush by Bobbi Brown. The stick offers medium coverage and the texture is extremely creamy and hydrating. I used this in the Honey shade and it was a perfect match. It was easy to blend and had great lasting power. If I was able to apply power to set, I got great coverage throughout the day. On the go without powder, I certainly got staying power for 4-5 hours. There was no slipping, flaking or melting. This is the perfect product to use for those of you that just have small spot coverage needs for general daily use. Perfect for travel and throwing into your bag because of the size. I love it and will always have one of these with me.

Like many of you, I've found that blotting papers are the way to go in terms of touch ups during the day, especially when you have daily mid-day and evening oilies like I do. I've found a few over the years that I've liked alot, but nothing new has caught my attention until now. Nurturing Force blotting paper is a sheet roll in a small, light dispenser (about 2 1/2 in" long). What makes this a favorite of mine is the fact that the texture of the sheet is super soft and silky, and even smells great. This paper is made from a man made two fiber paper, which is what gives it this distinctive feel. In addition, since it's a sheet roll, I was able to tear off exactly the amount that I wanted each time, quickly and easily (the company estimates 70-125 sheets can be created from the roll). The blotting paper itself was extremely absorbant and best of all it's double sided, which means that I was able to use both sides of the paper and still be able to blot the oil - a great feature. The actual dispenser was very sturdy and cut the paper easily. The version I used was the Aloe Vera, which had a nice clean scent. For those of you that like additional fragrance, the paper also comes in Bulgarian Rose (Not Rose Water) and Lavender Essential Oil versions which also smell incredible and extremely authentic. I don't know how I got along without this product, but now that I've discovered it, I will always have a roll with me!

Sonia Kashuk has become a master at creating not only cosmetics but cosmetic tools for the masses that are a perfect combination of form+function, and this foundation brush is right at the top of my list of favorite Kashuk products. This foundation brush is about 7 in" long with a black handle conviently shaped to fit perfectly in your fingers. I loved how light it was, and how sturdy the bristles were. They were soft, yet firm and helped me to apply my cream/liquid foundations smoothly and evenly. I didn't have any brush lines, and the brush distributed all the foundation on my face, and did not leave residual foundation on the brush. It comes in clear hard plastic case, so it was easy to store in the bathroon or to pack for travel. For those of you who love applying concealer and cream blush with a brush, you should know that this also worked great for me on both fronts. I loved that is was also versatile. The brush was easy to clean and really held up well after getting regular use week after week. This is a fantastic brush at a great price and should be in everyone's makeup kit!

  • I really need to invest in one of these. Every time I see one online I think about buying one but I haven't yet. But they are quite important to every girls make up cycle.

This cute little blue sponge is a jack of all trades. The sponge is firm upon taking it out of the clear plastic case, so the first thing I did was to the sponge and run it under water, getting it completely wet. It doubled in size and then had soft, pillow-like appearance. Next, I squeezed the sponge out very well so that it was slightly damp. Then I swiped it across my cream foundation and dabbed it first in the mid section of my face near my nose, sweeping it outward towards the edges of my face (cheek, forehead, and chin). Within a minute or two the foundation was dry and the coverage was fantastic. With the sponge I was able to get to all the corners of my eyes and nose. The top of the sponge is narrower and perfect for dabbing around the corners of the nose, or on blemishes, while the bottom, wider part is what I used to actually apply my foundation on the majority of my face. With the sponge, my foundation looked natural, yet had a very nice med/sheer coverage with a tad bit of a dewy appearance. For my concealer, I dabbed a bit directly under my eye with my concealer brush and then used the top narrow part of the sponge to tap into my skin until it blended seamlessly. With cream blush, I found the best way to use it was by tapping the bottom half lightly on the blush and then applying in a circular motion on my cheeks. Beautiful! This is a great little makeup tool that I’ll always have in my kit. Note: Here is a rinsing tip. Try rinsing the sponge after use by letting as much of the makeup wash off as possible with plain water. Then apply a small dab of a simple gel cleanser to clean any remaining makeup from the sponge. It doesn’t come with a storage case, per say, but you can try setting it atop the actual clear case that the sponge comes in to dry.

The afternoon “glow” – which is really a nice word for shine, is something that I look to avoid at all costs. In the summer heat, it’s usually an uphill battle, with various products producing so-so-to-good results. Sonia Kashuk has created a product which goes in the very good category. It’s a spray powder which I sprayed directly on to my powder brush as per the instructions. Within seconds I could see my t-zone shine disappearing. My skin felt soft and smooth and the powder has a nice, subtle scent. During a few of the days I tested this, I was in 90+ degree heat/humidity and on those days I did need to give myself another spritz during the afternoon, but all in all, I was really pleased with how it tamed my oilies without breaking me out. It also worked really well with both my foundation and tinted moisturizer. It didn’t change the color, ball up or create dry patches. The powder is fine and mostly translucent, but there is still a lightly colored pigment in this powder, so this will work best on women up to a Kerry Washington shade. Great for travel too & fantastic price to boot!

Every now and then a cosmetic product comes across my desk that doesn’t seem like it would rock my world; but ends up doing just that. Mugler’s vinyl gloss is the latest product to do this for me. I absolutely fell in love with this “brush-less & comb-less” mascara. The packaging is of course right up Mugler’s alley – modern, slightly odd and yet still sophisticated. The mascara tube itself is a unique concept that includes a long, narrow “paint brush” (more like the type of brush you would find in a lip gloss tube) which I applied over my lashes. The shiny mirror on the top echoes his “Mirror Collection” theme. I found the liquid formula itself was a thicker version of the usual mascara formula, but was surprisingly easy to work with. When brushing over my lashes with the applicator I was amazed that I was able to get all of my lashes – from the really short tiny ones in the corners to the longer ones in the center. The gloss made my lashes deep, shiny black, very full, lush and long. It was a very glam look, but I found it could still work for daytime. During the day there was no flaking, running or smudging at all. This is also amazing for a dramatic sexy, night time look, with a dark smokey eye or with a sweep of black liquid eyeliner on the top lid. It’s a luxury purchase, but for something this unique, beautiful and amazing it is truly worth it. Note: For really high-impact lashes this can be layered over one coat of your favorite Volumizing mascara http://boutique.thierrymugler.com

If you have drier skin like me, and are looking for a great primer that also has sun protection, then this is a great choice. I found that a little of the medium/thick-weight cream went a long way to cover my face in the morning before applying my makeup. It went on smoothly and sank in fairly quickly. I found it very moisturizing and it also did not give my skin a grayish cast, despite the sunscreen ingredients. Throughout the day it did a very effective job of keeping my makeup in place (no running, streaking or dry patches), even on hot/humid days and several business trips via plane. This is a very nice little skin luxury from the master NARS! Note: This formula will work best on drier/combination skin as it may be too heavy for oily skin.

It goes without saying that the design of this eye palette, like many of the YSL palettes, is exquisite, unique and truly beautiful. But it doesn’t just stop there -- the colors themselves are wonderful and perfect for summer. There are 4 colors in the palette which were inspired by various African terrains. There is a deep chocolate brown (with a touch of eggplant), a true orange (with a touch of rust), a medium creamy yellow shade and a beige shadow. The brown and orange colors are bold, but were buildable if I wanted a more dramatic look. None of the colors has shimmer, they were silky and easy to blend and were a pleasure to play with and combine. The lasting power of the shadows was also good. I didn’t think I would gravitate towards the orange shade as much as I did. The orange was very flattering and not shocking or over the top in any way. I loved combining the orange all over the lid in a light layer with the chocolate in the crease and as an eyeliner on its own or over my eyeliner pencil. I also liked using the yellow and beige for a softer look. These shades are varied enough with darks, brights and neutrals that it will work with all skin tones as well. There is a lot of shadow in the pan and each is very pigmented. This combined with the beautiful limited edition palette design makes it definitely worth the price.

Now that I’ve tried this I can never go back. The unique 4 sided comb individually coated every single one of my lashes. It made them super long and defined. I usually look for length in my mascara, but this also thickened in addition to lengthening. The overall effects of this mascara are among the best that I have ever seen. I loved that I didn’t need lots of coats to build up the effect; my lashes looked magnificent after just one coat. Even better, my lashes also felt light and soft. The staying power was great and it did not flake or smudge at all! The tube design is as sleek and beautiful as one would expect from an Armani product as well.

It made my lashes look long, luscious and thick. I really did do a double take in the mirror the first morning I used it. It didn’t clump and held a curl better than almost mascaras I’ve tried. There was no smudging or flaking and it IS truly waterproof – I went swimming and into a sauna with it, and it stayed put, and looked incredible. The color of the mascara is a beautiful jade green color, which looks a little deeper on the brush than it did on my lashes – and I liked that it gave a definite hint of green to my lashes, but was still subtle. This is a great color that will work on all skin tones and for those of you who want to change up your eye look. For me, it really did bring out the dimension of my brown eyes as well, which was another plus! This is a beautiful luxury mascara with a color twist that is worth the price.

This particular product is the perfect marriage of product innovation, luxury, and out of-the-box thinking in terms of product packaging. L.U.C.I EYES light color in motion duo eye shadow in Apricot is a brilliant shade. It looked so vibrant in the “shell” that it is encased in. As a matter of fact, the shell itself actually has a heft to it such that you really feel like you have picked up an actual shell on the beach! I also thought the peal in the upper left hand corner is a brilliant touch and the shell like detail on the outside of the shell case is just beautiful. As for the shadows themselves, I could do nothing but marvel at how the apricot when applied on my lid became this lovely mix of bronze, pink and copper. I often wore just this shade because I was so happy with it. But of course I wanted to try the white photonic shade that comes with it too at times. With just a touch of the white shade, the apricot became, pearly, iridescent yet not too bright. The way the light reflected off of the shade was amazing. I loved that essentially you can get three different shadow looks from this compact. I could use the apricot alone, the white photonic eye shadow over it, the white photonic shadow alone (or as a highlighter on the brow bone) or sometimes I would get a completely different color by putting the photonic shadow on first, and then the apricot! This color will work with all skin tones, but if you are darker than a Serena Williams shade, this will work better as a highlighting shade, mixed with deeper coppers and browns. This is truly an innovation in color cosmetics, and a definitely collector’s item for the packaging as well.

From the beautiful embellished flowers on a light luminescent pale pink background, to the shimmery gold case, this was a joy to look at and to use. I loved using is as an accent to my peach or coral toned blushes. The “pollen” center of the flower is a glittery hot pink (which actually goes on quite soft and complemented my skin tone nicely). I loved applying it on my cheek bones, and under the brow. When I wanted to use it as more of an actual cheek color, I swirled the pale and hot pink together with the soft brown to get a very flattering medium pink with subtle shimmer. This is very pretty for spring and will work as a shimmer accent for all skin tones, and has enough pigment to work as an actual blush up to about a Nia Long complexion.

I really loved this product (my first time using a liquid blush). This color appears bright pink (almost neon) in the tube, but it blended beautifully on my skin to a subtle rosy pink. This was just perfect for an everyday look, and gave me an incredible glow. The texture is simply divine. It only took a few small pumps of the liquid on each cheek and my fingers (or a small brush) to blend in and achieve a perfect look every time. This blush was very easy to blend onto my skin. The result was really polished and subtle. I also love that it gave me you a true glow, without being shimmery or looking greasy or shiny. The lasting power is also amazing. I was very surprised that this did not wear off quickly, since it is a liquid. This blush lasts as long if not longer than some of my favorite powder blushes! The product is also versatile. I also mixed a few drops with my liquid foundation and even my tinted moisturizer which gave me an incredible look as well. Using it this way gave my complexion a boost and made me look radiant overall (I choose to do this in the evening especially). Since it’s so pigmented and not much is needed to achieve a look, this will also last a very long time, which is another bonus! This is limited edition (spring 2008)…run don’t walk to get this one girls!” Note: If you have very oily skin, this should be used sparingly.

I think this may be one of the prettiest shades in the whole Fafi collection as a matter of fact. Hipness gave me a natural, coral/peachy-pink glow (no shimmer) on me. It's very pigmented, so all I needed was a light swipe of the blush (with my mac 129 brush) to give me a beautiful glow. This is truly a beautiful blush with a nice, silky texture, making it very blendable. Although it is listed as a frost, I didn’t see any shimmer on my skin (but it does appear there is a small amount in the pan). What I loved about this shade is that it really brightened up my face without calling attention to the fact that I was wearing blush. This will work best up to an Oprah shade. Since this is limited edition, you may want to double up on this one!

What an amazing concept that L’Oreal has crafted to perfection! I loved that these tubes include a little brush and case (which has a little “well” on the lower left hand side where you can mix the shade (with other cream shadows as well). I applied with the brush that came with it and they applied evenly & smoothly (for those of you who can’t give up your cream eye shadow brushes, yes this did also work well with mine, but you can’t beat the small compact one included for touchups and travel! Nervy is a cool frosty taupe that read a bit greyer on my skin. This cream shadow is slightly shimmery and deeply pigmented. I was impressed by the eye shadow not creasing after 10+ hrs of wear as well. It was truly amazing. The formula is virtually budge proof once applied (I swiped it on my hand to test the color and then tried to rinse it off. It actually took several washings with soap before it was gone). I also loved using this as a base for powder shadows (yes it also works well with the HIP powder shadows and the color truth eye liner ). All in all, this is a really pretty neutral color that will work with all skin tones and can be layered to make it a more dramatic color as well. A little dab (as small as a pen point actually) is more than enough to cover both eye lids. I found that I could also use my finders to blend it to really get a fine, detailed look as well. This is a truly innovative product and an amazing buy to boot!

I was completely transformed by this one little product from Becca. Treacle’s slightly yellow/orange undertone really took out the bluish/green dark circles under my eye and lifted the entire area. It comes in a compact and contains two separate concealers; one for heavier coverage and one for medium coverage. It is definitely one of the better concealers I've tried; it covers beautifully and stays on all day long. It does not smear or settle into fine lines. It felt like a dry thick cream, but I used it under my eyes and was amazed at the way it blended and did not settle into any lines. Please note that because the texture of this product is on the dry side it is best to blend with a concealer brush. Using a dab of eye cream first gave me the best results for covering my under eye circles. In general I found blending the two sides worked better for me, but for many of you the full coverage will be best for blemishes and other discolorations and the medium for under eye circles. It also did a great job covering a few brown spots on my cheeks and chin. It also provided a fantastic base for my eye make up when I used on my eye lid. The color match was excellent and this brand has made a great range of shades with subtle differences to let all women, even those of you with very dark brown skin get the perfect one. This one concealer fulfils all my needs so perfectly!
