Elson & Company
There isn’t a hint of Asian dragon motifs in Elson & Company’s Tibetan rugs. These rugs are decidedly modern, yet hand-knotted and crafted in Katmandu by Tibetans using time-honored techniques and high-altitude Himalayan wool. Diane Elson got the idea for her enterprise when she was trekking through Asia and had a rug made as a keepsake to bring home to the States where Elson & Company was born. Today, its collections, which include creations by big-name architects and designers, are available at showrooms around the country or directly from the Washington, D.C.–based company.
