Across The Universe [Deluxe Edition] Soundtrack

Sweet soundtrack, very sing-a-long-able

  • Have you seen this miniature gem of a film yet? If you answered yes, you already know why this soundtrack is awesome. I'd be shocked if you said no, but if you did -- check out the move, then by this album.

  • Duh, this movie is ancient history now. The soundtrack, had little traction past the initial hype anyways. However, I think it does deserve a nod. I mean, it really is a collection of 19 really fun songs.

This is the perfect gift if you are looking for a present for primarily Females 25-45. Anyone who likes ambient music, Christmas music, alternative, indie, classical, ballads, World music or is a fan of the Cocteau Twins,Greg Ellis, Biomusique, Chronicles of Narnia, Prince Caspian, Dead Can Dance, True Blood, David Sylvain, Enya, Clannad, Loreena McKennit, Peter Gabriel’s Last Temptation, Liz Frazer, Peter Gabriel, Lisa Gerrard, David Sylvain, Enya, Clanned or Loreena McKnight will love this CD. I cannot say enough about the endless talent and sultry sounds of Lisbeth Scott. I'm really excited about this release. It makes me want to cuddle up in front of the fire and roast chestnuts! My children and all my guests will welcome the sounds of Lisbeth for the holidays! I first heard her amazing voice in “Chronicles of Narnia” the movie wasn’t for me (my son loves it!) but I came away with a love for Lisbeth Scott’s chillingly beautiful voice. I bought a couple of her releases (Dove & Fair Skye) at kosmicmusic.com and since I’m registered on their site, I get free downloads (!). I didn’t realize she is on over 100 soundtracks including Spielberg's "Munich," "The Passion of the Christ", Disney’s “The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe", "Prince Caspian" and so many more. If you like Liz Frazer, Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, etc....you’ll love Lisbeth Scott.

  • I LOVED this CD and this movie. I think this was Leo's best movie I don't care what anyone else has to say. Also Claire Danes is beautiful in this movie.

  • This soundtrack to one of my most favorite movies is definitely making it into my road trip rotation. It has really awesome songs from really great artists. You really can't beat a disc with Ryan Adams and Tom Petty.

I'm MAD about this soundtrack. This infact was the first CD I had ever purchased back in good ol' 1995 and still pop in every so often to bring me back to memories of childhood vacations. in 1995 I saw this film on a class trip and instantly fell in love with the melodies. Now as an adult I have come to appreciate more of the relaxing instrumentals and Sting's wonderful interpretation of the sea. This soundtrack is so serene and very enjoyable during long summer nights.

John Cusack's character, in the midst of yet another break-up, begins reviewing all of his previous relationships in light of the songs that characterized each one of them. In effect, the soundtrack itself becomes a character in the movie. Each and every song is a unique look at love, up to and including Jack Black's hysterical rendition of "Let's Get It On". Now that the movie has become a play you can choose the original soundtrack or the original cast recording of the soundtrack. Got that?

This was my absolute favorite album when it came out. And now looking back, it really does still hold up really well. "My Sharona" is such a fun song, then there's a Lisa Leob song, U2, Juliana Hatfield, Crowded House, Lenny Kravitz, Dinosaur Jr. and Squeeze. It was the first time I heard U2, and I didn't even know how cool half the bands were at the time. Great, great album.

It's guaranteed to put me in a good mood. Danny Elfman's songs are great, they fit the action perfectly, don't seem forced in, and are really terribly catchy. The special edition has other artists covering some of the more major songs. Personally, I think Fionna Apple's "Sally's Song" is the one that's really worth the money, but Marylin Manson, Fall Out Boy, She Wants Revenge, and Panic! at the Disco.

You've got the cruisiers with the "nasty" stuff! : ) If you remember greasers in school or John Travolta in Grease -- this movie soundtrack will make you smile, hum and dance. One of my absolute favorite albums. This modest early '80s hit film about a fictional '60s rock icon who mysteriously disappears (or does he?) took its lead from similar legends surrounding the death of Jim Morrison. Its succesful soundtrack arose from an even more surreal brew of art and commerce. Then-journeyman musician John Cafferty and his Beaver Brown Band essentially became the, er, "real" Eddie and the Cruisers, with actor Michael Pare lip-synching the vocals, and other actors miming their parts. Cafferty and crew supply what was then a fair approximation of the Springsteen Sensibility--wall-of-sound bar rock with overreaching lyrics and grab-your-throat vocals.
