Black Metal Vol. 1 was great, one of the best graphic novels of all time, and Black Metal, Vol. 2 doesn't disappoint. I love the adventures of The Brothers Stronghand so much that I hope to see a animated series one day.

"Slice of Your Pie," the title track, "Sticky Sweet", "She Goes Down", "Don't Go Away Mad" and most especially "Kickstart My Heart" are real standouts and that says a lot considering the original CD is only 11 tracks long!

The reason I like this CD so much is because it is that transition that prevents them from being too over the top with the metalness while not wearing spandex and prissying out . "Shattered", the title track, "Psycho Holiday " and "Domination."

Diamond Head was slated to be the next Zeppelin and rightfully so, these guys had the talent, the youth and the writing skills to be rock n... Diamond Head was slated to be the next Zeppelin and rightfully so, these guys had the talent, the youth and the writing skills to be rock n' roll legends. Unfortunately bad record distribution, ill advised artistic direction, line up changes and bad timing (amongst other things) killed this band's career. This album is their first and best album; every song on this CD is unforgettable. Fortunately this story isn't too tragic; both Metallica and Megadeth idolize this band (they influenced both bands successful careers) and have taken them on tour. Metallica consistently plays their songs live and have laid four of their tracks down on their multi-platinum selling albums. LOVE this CD, a must buy for any heavy metal/hardrock fan!

The Donnas play great, straight-ahead punk laced rock. It doesn't have the pure speed of punk, but it's got the energy and attitude. There are a few misses on the disc, and the cover of "Living After Midnight" is surprisingly toot... The Donnas play great, straight-ahead punk laced rock. There are a few misses on the disc, and the cover of "Living After Midnight" is surprisingly toothless, but the rest is pretty damn solid. "Midnite Snack" is one of my favorites, if only for the party-chorus in the background. After a few listens a lot of the songs blur together in a pretty solid blur, but that's just to suggest they aren't fun songs.

Buy this cd and every one of their subsequent albums. My advise is to stay clear of their self-titled debut unless you've got some extra cash to burn. But this review is about "A.T.R 'N' R. Machine" I second all the wonderfull things said on previous reviews with a few exceptions: 1. Most people who drive Jeeps (with non-removeable roofs) are weenies. Especially if he's sportin' the way out of style goatie beard or she's got her hair pulled thru the back of a baseball cap. 2. The Donnas have become "slight" media pimps doing ads for Target. But hey if they get some extra dollars, more power to them. 3. Save them fancy, big city words like "pathos" for reviews of the works of Plato or Aristotle...they don't belong when descibing great rock 'n' roll. Period! via amazon

It's a fun listen. You'll smile while pumping your fist and flailing away on your air guitar. The single "Take It Off" gives you a good idea of the record...if you like it, you'll totally enjoy the rest of the album. But, there's hardly any tunes I skip now...it's maddeningly catchy. Check out these up and coming bands now...The Ataris, The Androids, The Exies...and The Donnas. All tuneful, driving, great rock...this is a great time to be listening to this type of music. Here is what you get on Gold Medal : Mid-Tempo Songs and thin 70's guitar sound. I think, 'Spend the Night' was their peak. The production was tight, the songs were great and fast, and the lead guitar was somewhere close to Ace Frehley. Unfortunately, on the new album, they abandoned their punk/ramones roots and deliver more of a 'Glam Rock' approach album. But the production is thin and the songs are just not as good as they used to be. This album is a disappointment to me, and I hope, they will return to their bubblegum-punk before the party is over. I suggest, buy all their previous CDs before spending your money on 'Gold Medal'. via amazon
