Named after a neighbouring village of High Wycom... A very simple old school design, that only gets better the more its used. about: Hastoe is a Windsor chair designed by Matthew Hilton and distributed exclusively by De La Espada. Named after a neighbouring village of High Wycome in Buckinghamshire, where the Windsor chair originated, the chair is made of ash and walnut using exclusively traditional Windsor chair making techniques in order to further the story, the evolution of the English Windsor chair. De La Espada, in its role as design manager for Matthew Hilton Ltd, and Matthew Hilton himself, wanted to involve a manufacturer with history and experience in building the Windsor chair. Ercol, the UK's largest manufacturer of solid wood furniture with nearly 100 years of history, was the perfect solution. Ercol is the last of the High Wycombe furniture makers whose beginnings were in chairs of this type. De La Espada products are constructed of timber derived from sustainable forests in the United States. These forests are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), a non-profit organization who sets high environmental standards for responsible forest management.

Carefully cleaned of encrusted stones and dirt then judiciously cut to create a warm contemporary form from this organic original. This table... Carefully cleaned of encrusted stones and dirt then judiciously cut to create a warm contemporary form from this organic original. This table was then shipped to artisans in the Philippines who carefully cast the formed root with resin. Once pulled from the mold the multistep process begins with a detailed sanding followed by a hand painted silver. Authentic silver leaf is then hand applied and buffed to bring out the final subtle luster."

The only thing I don't like about this lovely bench/table is the green fabric of the cushion (but that's personal). No problem... it's removable and so I guess easy to replace by something better. This table is so nicely made from bamboo plywood and so smart for a small place.
