Marble mortar and pestle
I have a small marble one that I use for grinding spices and for crushing together garlic and sea salt for making aioli, and a large wooden one that I use for grinding pepper.

A must-have tool for grinding spices, nuts, garlic, anything! And the marble is very easy to clean, and does not absorb odors from food!

Beautiful mortar and pestle disguised as a work of art. Made of wood and stainless steel, the handle is curved for added comfort and efficiency.

used for centuries, i'm pretty sure you can find a use for it as well, at home or in the office (if you're a pharmacist!). great for releasing the aromatic goodness of herbs before you cook.

You probably won't be able to get your hands on basil grown under the Sicilian sun to make authentic basil pesto, but at the very least, you can make it in a mortar and pestle like they do, not in a food processor.
