Mos Def - Black on Both Sides
Mos Def is one of my favorite Hip Hop artists. Black on Both Sides explores social issues while at the same time including thought provoking lyrics funky beats and an amazing amount of flow through out the entire album. The album is definitely not a "Rap" album. As I listen heavily to Hip Hop that focuses more on beats and flow, Mos Def has become a staple. For those of you that are just opening your mind to different music genres and are going to give Hip Hop a listen, pick up Black on Both Sides as I know you will not be disappointed. Highlight tracks include; Ms. Fat Booty, Umi Says, Speed Law, New World Water and Mathematics.

This was a sick cd but oddly produced by all east coast producers. Oh well. it sounded west coast.

It's all good though, the 90's was a hot time for rap and Kurupt tears it up on ... My older brother and his friends were in love with this cd and I couldn't help but following suit. Kurupt is great when he raps with Tha Dogg Pound but his solo work is really cool too.....I really reccomend the title track, "At I... Now that hip-hop has moved into the era of boasting about ownership of material objects, it would be nice if they could incorporate some decent sampling so I wouldn't have to turn to albums from the 90s all the time.

The singles that came off this track are so hot that they might burn your ears by simply listening to them. Make sure you listen to Snoop and by only blazing chronic and raising up Chevys.

Ahhhh another Westcoast treasure. Don't get me wrong, the whole CD isn't perfect but there are some really good classics on this one, namely the title track.

Hot damn was this a good album or what?!?!? Xzibit tore up the radio stations with this one, his breakthrough album. Unfortunately this was Eminem's last great CD and it kind of marks the beginning of the end for him.
