Nike+ Sleeveless Seamless Top

Nike+ Sleeveless Seamless Top

The latest (and likely the sweatiest) partnership between the iPod and its many adoring followers has spawned a line of tanks and short- and long-sleeve shirts by Nike that is designed with pockets to fit iPod Nano. Sure, the technical fabrics and iPod-friendly fits are custom made for rocking and running, but is buying a Nano-compatible shirt the jock equivalent of wearing a pocket protector? Those who have not fully reconciled their athletic and geekish ways can try less obvious iPod gear like Arc’Teryx’s Covert Cardigan Jacket. iPods fit nicely in the small zippered pocket on the left arm for cold weather workouts.

The Nike + iPod system's drawbacks have always been obvious: it's a little clumsy to operate, and it involves exercise. Not much can be done about the latter, but the former's starting to inspire some creative problem solving. On the heels of the recently released Timex iControl comes Nike's own version, dubbed the Amp+. Some might say it looks like something Tracy Morgan might be sentenced to wear on his wrist in the year 2025, but the thing does have a few equally forward-thinking features. To wit: a cool-looking red diode readout and a very cool nublike button the left edge—tap it once to send your latest workout data through your headphones (you can even pick a male or female voice), or, when the going gets really tough, hold it down to cue up the one track you've pre-selected to help get you over the hump. Nike calls this your "PowerSong," though you can just call it "Panama." Nike Amp+ Sport Remote Control, available in four color schemes, $79, nike.com

This Nike band rocks. It's made out of the same Dri Fit materials as their shirts, shorts, etc. and it's nice and stretchy. It stays tight on your arm and the material protects the screen without affecting the user interface or the buttons. Much better than those arm strap iPod things. PLUS it handles landscaping like a dream.

In fact, it is made so it is easy to use and it does really enhance your workout plus you look really cool. What's it like? Well, a super soothing and nice female voice, who is like your own little personal coach, will tell you when you have accomplished 10 minutes or that you only have 1 more mile to go. Your music will just fade up and down but will not stop, and you don't have to do anything but keep moving. This is a great gift for any exercise enthusiast.
