Nokia 7710 Cell Phone

Not only does the Nokia 7710 SmartPhone make my life simpler by providing me with a cell phone, mp3 player, mp4 player, and PC attributes, but it also has a 1.3 megapixel camera so I can remember all of my daughter's precious moments.

You really can't accuse Nokia of failing to differentiate their range of S60 3rd Edition devices - each one has been wildly different from the rest, at least to the trained eye. The N73 has been widely touted as a natural successor to the best-selling S60 2nd Edition-powered N70, but that's only really half the story. The truth about the N73 is that it's all about the camera. And what a camera, 3.2 megapixels with greater clarity, far less compression artefacts and better colour than even Nokia's own flagship N93. Where the N70 was perhaps 70% smartphone and 30% camera, the Nokia N73 is a true half and half. With such a strong imaging focus, it won't appeal to the 'why do I need a camera in my phone' brigade, but I doubt Nokia will mind. In truth, the N73 is less than perfect as a smartphone, as you'll see below, but for the target market the photos it takes will more than make up for this.

It may not be quite as pretty as the iPhone, but has GPS and a higher quality camera. Like the iPhone, it has wi-fi in addition to traditional cellular networking. It's nice to see the price coming down (it used to be $700-$800). You can get an unlocked version from Amazon.

Today, I'm an E61 convert, and I'm not afraid. Afraid of what? Have you ever made a decision NOT to make an important call out of fear that your Treo would suddenly lock up on you? Oh c'mon...you know you have. Since switching to the E61 with Cingular (bought independently), I have experienced exactly ZERO phone malfunctions. And I'm still running with Good Technology. Buy this phone and except for the stupidity of limiting one's speed dials to 10 entries, this phone will make you very happy. If you are a photo freak, don't...there's no camera.
