Kind Fruit/Nut Bars

Kind Fruit/Nut Bars

I’ve tried just about every brand and these actually taste good and don’t have a bunch of yucky artificial ingredients.

Never had it before my detox and now I can't imagine living without it (though I am LOVE oatmeal and nuts). Basically what you want is a combo of grain (I grind my oatmeal up for the mix), nuts and seeds (almonds, brazil nuts, filberts), raisins, dried fruit (fig, apricot, peaches - unsulfured) and sunflower seeds. Add some Vanilla Soy Milk (Silk) and let sit while you do your hair or makeup. Yes, it is not a cheap breakfast, but boy does it start you out right. And though this comes in a plastic bag, it must to keep fresh. It's still less than other commercial cereals and you'll use less if you make it yourself from the healthfood store bulk bins!

This was an important find while on my detox. I already ate nuts and seeds and dried fruits, but this combined them in a way that changed things up... sweetened with honey! Yes, honey is allowed, but no refined sugars. And look, for those of you scared to allow this sugar... I lost a deal of weight using honey every single day! See the other recommendation for the company's website. There are 10 bars to choose from, though my local store only has 2 or 3. Gluten-free, wheat-free, dairy-free, preservative-free!

It appears they have 10 "kinds" of bars, but my store only has 2 or 3 (I don't know because I am only obsessed with the next recommendation!) Gluten-free, wheat-free, dairy-free and preservative-free ~ but the taste will knock your socks off! (A few bars are not dairy-free). The main reason it's part of my detox plan? No refined sugar! It's sweetened mainly with honey and contain only nuts, fruits and berries. *no, this isn't necessarily low in fat and calories, but it's a quality food, showing me that if we eat what we're meant to eat ~~ that provided by the earth, not a machine ~~ our bodies will reward us with good health.

I am gluten-allergic, and all Lara Bars are gluten free. The lemon bars are really awesome, but my favorites are the Ginger Snap and the Coconut. Lara Bars are not made with high fructose anything, and nothing you can't pronounce. The ingredients are things like dates, figs, coconut, cocoa, ginger, cherries, bananas -- you get the picture. They are all chewy, sweet and satisfying!

Beth Lipman is an amazing glass artists, whose work has been shown in major museums, who has paired up with Steuben to develop a line of crystal fruits and botanicals. I love the sets, because they are interactive sculptures that you can display in a myriad of ways, even combining sets or breaking them up. A symbol of prosperity and abundance, the fig also has come to signify the state of Israel. These fluidly sculpted crystal fruits, designed as part of the Beth Lipman Collection for Steuben, often appear in the 17th-century Dutch still life paintings that inspire Lipman’s hand-formed glass. As part of a cornucopia, they add a sparkling accent to the table.

Beth Lipman is an amazing glass artist who brings brings a third dimension to the traditional still life with her work. Steuben has recently debuted an amazing collection by this acclaimed artist, and this full set is absolutely breathtaking. Lipman’s expressive, fluid work pays homage to still life paintings of fruit and flowers created from the 17th through 20th centuries. The various crystal fruits, flowers, and leaves that comprise her Grand Sculpture collection for Steuben are meant to be arranged and rearranged in groups or as a single unit “at the whim of the client”, she says. The artist believes that “traditional defects such as bubbles or seeds, film in between layers of glass, dirt, and inconsistencies within the production” are accepted as signs of individual handwork, and symbolize “the fragility and imperfection of life.” This rich assemblage of fruits and flowers represents, she says, “our affluent society” and finds parallel in a prior period of great affluence during the Dutch Golden Age of still life painting.

The consistancy is much like a chewy brownie with chunks of nuts. I'm concerned about carb counts and the mid-20's is good for me for a meal replacement, especially when the carbs are from nuts and fruits, not from processed sugars and corn syrup. Lemon Bar is my favorite flavor of LaraBar. It is very tart, but still sweet enough to be tasty.

I bought one of each flavor on a whim as I love their entire line of bars. It was so yummy. All the flavors are yummy. 70% organic, like trail mix in your hand, only not dry and cakey, like a granola bar, but like true gorp or trail mix in an easy to eat bar. It is slightly gooey, but I find that all the more yummy. I found myself buying them by the case now and eating them as a snack after running or the gym. A really nice way to reward myself for hard work and have also had them as a breakfast substitute and mid day pick me up snack.

While you are there pick up the dried cranberrys and do a mix and match.
