A while back on a different page of my life when I used to have delicious coffee at The House on Genesse, I'd seen a brilliant collection of ceramic logs in a metallic gunmetal glaze displayed in the house fireplace. I've been wanting to recommend them to you but it's taken some time to find them n line. To be honest I'm not really sure that the Roost logs are the same as the fireplace logs I'd seen, but hey these are "enchanted forest logs" so they must be the right ones.

  • "Adieu is a set of ceramic gas-fireplace 'logs' for the ardent modernist. The six individual 'logs' are cast from the legs of past furniture styles like Queene Anne, Shaker, Chippendale, and Colonial.

Each vase in this edition is handmade, completely unique and incorporates a whimsical approach to recycling. As he makes his paintings and sculptures, the artist is left with an excess of pigmented epoxy resin. Rather than discarding it, he layers this leftover resin inside discarded and often familiar plastic juice, water, or soda bottles and creates an inner water-proof cavity by inserting smaller post-consumer vessels such as paint bottles or water bottles. Once cured, he removes the outer plastic bottle to reveal the smooth and radiant forms, allowing the viewer to truly see and appreciate these usually-overlooked designs in a permanent and useful way.
