Raw Gaia

Another company I have stumbled upon in my search for organic and natural skincare. They have an incredible range of products include massage oils, soaps, creams, oils and floral waters (which are great for adding to their face packs). I've only used their massage bar, floral water, face packs and bath melts and they are fantastic. I love the face pack with floral water the most, since it's a great skin prep and I also really like the scents. It's a British company and the pricing is in the medium band so while I love the products, I use them sparingly rather than regularly. They also have other products like superfoods (to help prevent and relieve problems), dietary supplements, jewellery and skin accessories like loofahs and brushes but I've only tried one of the superfoods -- the Camu Camu and it has been great for my skin. So this is definitely a must-buy but to be used sparingly, unless you're rich.

Unscented Banana Oatmeal Shea Butter Soap made with real oats and fresh banana. This handmade cold process soap boasts a luxuriously creamy, thick lather that's perfect for washing your face and body. It also works beautifully as a shaving soap as the rich lather builds with little effort to create a protective cushion of lather on your skin. This soap is a twist off of my classic Unscented Oatmeal Soap and is the first soap I've made using fresh fruit. It has no added fragrance, but does a pleasant natural smell to it. Made from a combination of olive and rice bran oils, shea butter, palm and coconut oils, this bar will become a staple in your home. It's suitable for all skin types, but those with combination skin may find it especially helpful as a facial soap. The oatmeal provides gentle exfoliation to renew skin and slough off dead skin cells while the emollient properties of the soapmaking oils used will help to prevent skin from becoming dry and itchy - a problem often cause by traditional, commercial soaps.

An "all natural aboriginal" skincare range that was amongst the first of the presents I tried this year (but only found the website just now) -- it was a huge hamper. There are 6 categories in the range: bath & body; mom & baby; face; lips; equine and first-aid. I have products from their bath & body, face and lips range because I am not a mother and I don't own a horse. I haven't used the bath eggs (which actually look like eggs) but I have used the Mojito Body Polish, Hand Candy (that smells like mint and chocolates -- small bon bons that are hand moisturises basically), cuticle cream and the body souffle (which smells like dark chocolate and peppermint -- it's like smothering my self in After 8 mints). They also have a powder but I have never figured out what they are for (unless you include the countless tips I've read about how it's good for giving greasy hair a boost and minimising the oil). I also have the face collection but I haven't used any of those products yet; it includes a face polish, cleanser, creme and mask (though I can't wait to try them out though). I love the lip care range too -- the lip balm smells fantastic and I love the lip scrubs as well. This price range is in the medium band range, so it's much better as a present rather than regular-use products. The other awesome thing about these products are the names, the packaging and the look of the content (especially the Hand Candy). So this goes in my list of Giftsets!

Something else I received as a present, an organic skin care basket. This set came from the Oregon-based company Healing Tree Herbals (their website could do with a lot of work) who make soaps, massage oil, rubs and salves, and lotions. One from each of their categories, I am delighted to report that their products are nothing like their site, at least the ones I've tried. I haven't used the soap yet but their healing salves and rubs are amazing! The lotion is not too rich so it's perfect for the summer when it's hot and humid but not for the winter but they make up for that with their salves and rubs. Definitely a must-try with the products price range being in the lower band!

I got the gift basket for christmas containing a product from each category and I have to say I am duly impressed, though I'd be interested to see her product line expand. Yay for another UK natural and organic skin care company (though all of them seem to be short on moisturisers and creams). The company has a huge bath range ranging from shampoo, body washes, body balms, organic and glycerine soaps as well as bath bombs, bath fizzes and salts and other accessories like body brushes and reusable bags. The price range is in the medium band and I am not sure if they ship internationally!

As someone who travels, I need products that are all inclusive so I don't have to pack too many things and skincare is not something I will every compromise so I was ecstatic when I found Essential Balms, their products are 'head-to-toe' including washes, creams and oils as well as another range called Natural Oasis, which is solely for hair. The only problem with these products is that, online, it can only be bought in cases which is fine for me since I like to stock but the price is also incredibly reasonable. Fortunately, it is sold in retail stores in America so this is another Must Try, if not a Must Buy!

Another Australian company (they same to far ahead in natural skincare market) that makes organic cosmetics. Their range goes from face care, body care, bath sets, men's care, mother and baby products, and hand & foot care. I used their scrub, mud mask and bath oil as I pretended to be at a spa and it was very relaxing. So far I've only seen it available in Australia and they don't appear to ship internationally, either. The price range is quite steep so I wouldn't call it must-buy or must-try but it's for when you want to pamper yourself. The other awesome thing about this company is that you can buy gift certificates as presents for people -- Valentine's Day is coming up, people!

My aunt went to South Africa and picked up some products for her children and 'lo and behold, it was a natural selection. I used the skin wipes and while I like them, they are very clearly designed for babies and they only have four products in their range. So I recommend this for all mothers out there, or at least in South Africa since it appears it only retails there. You can order online but since I have no use for it, I have no idea if they deliver internationally but you can contact them via email to find out. As for the pricing since I don't know much about the economics of South Africa, I'll just say it appears reasonably priced for Brits and Americans.
