I don't know how realistic it is to fly an artist out to paint a mural on your wall (wait, yes I do, since I am available for just such activities), but this girl? Is definitely worth it. I love her work - both the murals and the frame-able type. I have a gorgeous print (the one used as the main photo for this recommendation) on the wall of my dining room that I love, and I have several notecards that I only give to the very specialist of people.

I try to bring out the brush strokes and the energy to express.

The Australian artist, Vali Meyers, was a legend in her own time. Premiere danseuse of the Melbourne Modern Ballet at seventeen, she left home and spent ten years in Paris, living much of the time on the streets but never ceasing to draw. Ed van der Elskin famously put her on the cover of his Love on the Left Bank, that manifesto of Paris in the 1950's and her work was praised by George Plimpton in his Paris Review. Then, saying good-bye to all that, she spent forty years in semi-seclusion in a wild canyon in Italy, where she continued producing her minute, mystical, and passionate drawings. Tough as nails, she fought the local authorities who wanted to introduce loggers into the valley, after a long struggle succeeding in having it designated an Environmental Oasis. Finally, Vali returned triumphant to her native Melbourne, where she was recognized as an artist sui generis. In this brilliant memoir by her friend and lover, Gianni Menichetti, her art, times, and personality come through unforgettably.

I entitled this Germ Warfare because this is of the time after humans are wiped off the face of the earth, the humans descanted remains are then manufactured into cybernetic creatures and spaceship type things being controlled by super intelligent germs the creature/spaceship at the top is taking off from from a arm its lunched off a arm, and is composed of a hand with angle wings sowed onto the back of the hand, there is also connected off the back of the hand twisting vines and muscles twisting upward connected too a eye that is shooting out electricity as if it was composed of a Tessa coil, a halo is also hovering above the eye the second hand creature is flying the other way warped around a axe like spaceship the spaceship is taking off with blue flame, as the creature moves it says O snap, because the creature on top is saying bling blang and if you can see the top creature is shooting a great Lazar like weapon at the hand below, that is in a lot of pain, because its wing has been blown away, by the axe taking off with its blue flame, and the top hand shooting the Lazar type weapon at it, so, it says "why me" germs are moving all over the arm,. that is now bleeding after the hand has taken off, and finally I called this germ warfare because its a painting about germs fighting each-other so its more of a play off words, any how this is it

Ashley Bickerton challenges the popular global construction of the tropics as perfection, where surfing, drugs and parties in beachside tourist villas provide a homogenised experience of the exotic. Living on the island of Bali, he parodies this drunken myopia in his photocollages and sculptures, presenting such glut and excess as an artifice. Just as Gauguin ‘sampled’ Polynesian exotica, so do Bickerton’s caricatures ‘perform’ ideas of the tropical. An introductory essay by Nick Stillman highlights these themes in Bickerton’s work, while the artist’s conversation with artist, curator and writer Harland Miller explores the idea of the island as man, home and retreat.
