Nestled inside, a chestnut brown heart made from newspaper has been given a little sparkle with a lick of copper paint, and underneath it a copper plaque reads 'home' in embossed lettering, bracketed with copper brads. The heart and plaque are mounted on a page of Shakespearian text. The house has a hanger on the back so it can be displayed on a wall, but it makes a lovely freestanding ornament too. It stands 8cm high and measures 7.5cm across at its widest point.

He is finished with a light coating of protective low-gloss varnish. His wings are coated in copper acrylic and he stands on hand formed copper wire legs. He measures approximately 12cm tall and 11.5cm from beak to tail.

In the words of the artists, "these animal figures are envisioned as spirits of animals rather than actual animals made with refuse of human civilization". They are noted to resemble Japanese religious icons like the pre-Buddhist Haniwa funeral figures from ancient Japan. Haniwa imagery has found its way into pop culture, notably Manga. While citing the traditions of chimera and Haniwa, these sculptures also allude to modern themes like comics, pop culture and genetic engineering. 35cm Length, 9cm wide, 26cm tall. 125 USD.
