Mirror's Edge

Mirror's Edge

A refreshingly innovative game. You're Faith, living in a modern city where everyone and everything is monitored. In this controlled world you are a 'Runner' - a sleek, fast and agile messenger who skims from rooftop to rooftop to reach your destination and avoid detection. All is well until your sister is framed in a high conspiracy murder case, and you must rescuer her. I'll let you find out the rest of the story. The game is really a breathe of fresh air. It is not a shooter. Instead, you must get from place to place using a handful of moves. You jump from building to building, run up walls and importantly, outrun the ever more difficult police. The rounds require some thinking as to how to reach your objective. But chase scenes and police pursuits add great adrenaline bursts to the game. The graphics are lovely - drawing on a thin palette of primary colors against a mainly white background. Everything is sleek, modern and clean. The gameplay is excellently designed. You have first person vision, able to see your hands and feet, making you feel as if you're the one actually running. Playing this game will likely make you want to go for an actual run :) There are a few complaints: The story writing is a bit weak and feels as if it was rushed a bit. There are some unfilled narrative holes. Your assortment of moves, while thrilling, is not as diverse as it could be. Advanced gamers may find the game story a bit short. Overall, it's certainly worth a try for gamers, and a must buy for those new to the xbox.
