The Elements of Style Illustrated - William Strunk Jr.
Some things never go out of style and this fabulous little book, The Elements of Style by William Strunk, is one of those things. My daughter pointed this book out to me in hopes that I would give it to her for Christmas last year. When I went back to the store to buy it for her, it was sold out. By the time it was re-stocked, Christmas was a memory and her birthday was looming on the horizon. I immediately snatched up a copy for her and one for me. Not only will you find the essential rules of grammar within its pages, the illustrations by Maira Kalman are simply delightful. A must have for any writer or better yet, a non-writer that needs help!
Of course these stories are a wild ride all their own, but - with the accompaniment of a flock of fuchsia flamingos - the adventure gets a wee tweak of kitsch and a mighty punch of pink.
