Nicolai works directly with the piano sounds, dismantling Sakamoto's recordings with "surgeon-like precision" into micro loops; into their atomic elements. Starting with these sound atoms, he creates a new basis for form, compressing, floating, and rotating rhythm with harmonic sequences and melodic counterpoints, and laying it underneath the piano tracks. This makes insen appear more complex, though the time-stretched flow and the clear lines of the piano stay untouched.

Quality, quality album. The best thing about K-Os is his range of musical abilities, from singing, to rapping, to playing multiple instruments. Not your ordinary hip-hop album, Atlantis is upbeat, fresh, and funky.

It's her third album and first post break-out with Come Away With Me. It seems to have a more pop feel to it. However, with a voice like hers anything will sounds great. this fourth full-length album was released in 2007. It's a more modern Norah Jones than what we all originaly heard of her for (and what won her all those awards). However, she's still making peaceful tunes.

I remember seeing Norah Jones when she was on this tour -- then unknown, opening up for the growing John Mayer. She was clearly the most beautiful performer i've ever seen -- and i'm talking about the music (well, her too).

"Discord" is a touchstone for a kind of alchemy that only a rare talent enters into, I'd describe it as Jazz abstraction, classical minimalism, or digital acoustic theory. What ever "Discord" might be classified as I feel it should be simply classified as a breakthrough piece.

Ah, well... "White Chalk" may be my chance to join the cult of Harvey. "White Chalk" is classic in the way most Francois Hardy, Scott Walker and Nico recordings are classic, it's an intimate collection which seems to exist within it's own realm. I'm drawn to the music as it strokes the melancholic and romantic side of melody, but you see I'm one of those who is attracted to the sound of pianos generating introspective atmosphere, fog shrouded streets, nocturnes, and rainy day moods. ah, still more info than you need to know...
