Hard-FI - Stars of CCTV
I have a bi-polar relationship with this album. I loved it at first, the catchy songs that get stuck in your head, the particularly British view of life. But then I got swept up in all these other great bands that seemed to overshadow them. Then I listened to "Move on Now", which I never liked as much, since it varies in tone so much from the rest of the album, but it reminded me that there's more than just hooky choruses here.

What is there to even say about this, I love this cd with all of my heart. EVERY last single song is a little ode to life.

What a wonderfully catchy album. Spoon is a great example of how rock can be lighter and catchy but still maintain its rock reputation.

It's their first studio album and after 4 more that are mostly spectacular, Castaways and Cutouts remains my favorite. To me it's their purest "indie rock sound." You know, back when indie rock use to actually be indie rock.

To be honest, I had almost forgotten about Beirut. I'm not really sure how because this was one of my favorite albums of '06 and he is completely amazing. Indie folk, pop lovers will all appreciate this one.

It's been a few years since this album and that's probably why I've mostly forgot about it. However, when I stumbled onto it on Amazon, I remembered how much I enjoyed it. Expect delightful melancholy.

One of the best albums of the decade, this side project by Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard transcends musical boundaries. If you haven't heard this yet, do yourself a favor and give it a listen.

Chan marshal is one of the few people i'd ever permit to doing cover albums. It's not very surprising, but her unique voice brought a fresh and fun perspective to already awesome songs.

Although, "Ballad of the Sin Eater" could be good punk in its prime.

I think this is probably the catchiest Ted Leo & The Pharmacists album, if that's possible. These guys write some horribly catchy pop music, but this is definitely some of the best. Just about every song on this album is incredibly hooky and infectious.

It's a very politically minded EP, all the songs definitely have an agenda to them, but this has never been a band to shy away from having a position to stand behind.

That's my current feeling about Ted Leo and the Pharmacists. So if you like this album, and you should, because it's got some super-great songs on it, like "Under the Hedge", and "Timorous Me" (two of my all-time fav of their songs), you need to go see them live so you can fully appreciate how amazing they really are. But if that's not an option, than sit down and revel in this album, and Shake the Sheets, and be happy that you have such great taste in music.

A really good, catchy album from a band that never did get its due. They're mostly an acoustic affair, tending to the indie pop side of things, and the lyrics are witty. Key tracks "Fear of Falling", and "Gwendolin".

Kinda a freaky pop record that reminds me a lot of the Talking Heads. The vocal style is delivered in the same sort of quirky way. Very jangly sounding, maybe a bit lofi, but totally catchy in all the right ways.

The Monkeys are still going strong, and hopefully, with the pressure of the follow-up behind them, they can go on to create some more well-crafted pop with a keen eye for the human condition.
