Baron ES (Burton Snowboards)

Baron ES (Burton Snowboards)

Aaaaarrrrrgggghhhhhhhh!!! I want this board!!! I wear size 13 boots and have in the past struggled to find a board that was light, responsive and had a good amount of pop for my ski boot size feet. Burton has now built the board of my crazy little snow frolicking dreams, the Baron ES!!! At this time, I can't give you a great user recommendation for the board since I haven't ridden it yet, but I can tell you Burton has been putting out top notch quality products for a very long time. So I am just going to put some info from the Burton site below. "Precious, it's so precious..." From the Burton Site: Ultimate wide board performance — it doesn’t get any lighter weight than this. Now supercharged with Vaporskin™, the Baron ES™ is the lightest weight, highest performance wide board in existence. With the explosive pop and weight savings of the Carbon I-Beam™, the accelerated speed of WFO and the most advanced edge technology, you get every advantage possible. Ride faster, ollie higher, dissect every vertical foot — toe drag is no longer a valid excuse.

I used to have an old RED frequency (I think) and the bloody thing would press on my temples like vices on a crab claw. And they lacked ear pads, which on a freezing -19c day in niseko meant that your ears were soon sprouting icicles. Then I got the hifi .. and man what a difference! Its super light and ultra comfortable, and the audio is great. My friends all wear Giros which look like hi-tech bicycle helmets. Much prefer the clean minimal lines on the hifi.

I actually read this book just to make sure I knew what to do if/when crisis time happened. If you are going to put yourself out there and "do the deed", take the time to at least read this book if you aren't going to do the training. Avalanche training or at least basic knowledge of how to handle yourself in an avalanche is a must for those of us that break off the monitored runs and have our own fun.

Not to mention they are the most comfortable bindings I have ever used. I came back to Burton bindings after riding Bent Metal BMX for a few years and the only thing I regret is not going back sooner.
