We've all inevitably read this book, and it was probably in junior high and we probably watched this instead of reading it. But read it or watch it, it's an iconic story worth seeing (or reading or whatever).

Gosling plays Danny Balint, a neo-nazi skinhead who is living an impossibly contradictory life because he's also a Jew. Violent, articulate and terrifyingly charismatic, Balint's only saving grace (weakness?) is what drives his hatred - his Judaism. This isn't an easy film and saying that is a vast understatement. It's brutally violent, frightening but also important.

Especially in a time where physical danger for doing so was a prevelent threat. A Patch of Blue is about a man who befriends a blind woman. Of course, the woman can't see, so she can't judge him by anything other than his character. Soon after, the woman's mother sees them in the park and disapprovingly informs her daughter that he's a black man.
