The prius made eco-transport conspicuously sort of cool. Mercedes bluetec clean diesel makes it invisibly totally cool.

Like this new Nano from Tata motors. It's not the best looking car in the world, and won't go fast as a Ferarri, but for $2,000 I'd move it to the top of my car list. Reminds me of a Toyo Prius, except you cam buy many of them for the Prius price. When it launches this month, it will be the cheapest car in the world. It will only be available in India, where most get around on scooters. Check out the Tata Motor's website, for all of the specs. They now own a few of the American cars you currently drive.

What a smooth, comfortable, quiet ride. German efficiency at its best. Refined, classic, luxury. What else can be said? The German's may not know how to win a war, even after trying twice, but they do know how to make a terrific car. For all of our eco crazy hybrid non-sense, when I am able to afford it I'm getting a Mercedes. So go ahead and buy your Prius, and when I zoom past you on the road and you hear my cackling laugh and your choking on the dust-up in my wake, you'll wish you had bought one too.

Okay so my husband has a 2005 Prius (when the new ones came out) and I have to admit that I'm jealous of it...a lot. Sure my car has a supercharger, but the Prius gets MPGs in the 40s, and that's awesome. I have zero negative things to say about this car. The GPS is awesome, the hybrid-ness is cool and impressive, and it's got lots of fun little gadgets like the ON button and the spring-loaded gear shifter. There's a TON of room inside; my husband even fit a twin mattress in the back -- with the door closed! Can't recommend this enough...if you can get one!

I just believe that our addiction to oil threatens our freedom and way of life. Our petro-dollars are directly funding some of the most dangerous governments in the world, many of whom support terrorists. It is our patriotic duty to eliminate our dependence on foreign oil, and until our leaders begin behaving like they really have our interests at heart, we each need to make small sacrifices for the greater good. It turns out my Prius is roomy, quiet, fast, nimble, and requires very little feeding (averaging 43 miles-per-gallon) and I drive with a lead foot! Stop procrastinating and start demonstrating your true patriotism.

What the hey -- if this is my holiday wish list, I wish to weave in and out of L.A. traffic and to get 60 mpg all while doing something less-bad for the environment. Plus, this Italian beauty is way more attractive than a Prius and it's oh so mod.

Well built, and with proper driving habits, I get 48 mpg in the summer and 40-42 mpg in the winter. Could use a little better rear vision, which I hear they are working for for the Gen. 3 model. Buyer beware the Gen. 1 model if you are buying used, because it sacrifices smog forming emissions for better fuel economy.

When I bought this I was deciding between this and a Toyota Prius. The Prius gets better gas mileage, however I liked that this car looks and drives like a regular Honda Civic. I've had it since Jan. 2004 and have had no issues with it. I love this car. I drive a lot (I live in San Jose and work in San Francisco, so that is 50 miles each way. Also here in the SF bay area gas prices are the highest in the country. This car makes that fact not so painful. Also a huge plus, since I live in CA is I was able to get stickers so I can drive in the carpool lane! I'm helping the environment, saving money and get to drive in the carpool lane. What else could you ask for? Well....a chauffeur would be nice! hehehehehe!

My Ford Escape Hybrid is not the most luxurious car in the world, but it is a fun car and it fits all my toys in the big cargo area (ie mountain bike, climbing gear, surfboards, etc). It also has surprisingly good pick-up and is pretty zippy. I like that it is not a huge, obnoxious SUV but still can take me off-road when going on adventures in relative comfort. I got mine in the ice green (see above color) which I dig it is not for everyone, I know. The Ford Escape Hybrid also has a pretty cool little rolling 15 minute mpg average. It is surprisingly addictive to drive around town trying to maximize fuel economy (which you do by not stomping on the gas too abruptly and minimizing the times you have to come to a complete stop). Driving around West LA (non-freeways), I get about 22.4mpg and can get nearly 30mpg on the freeways. So it is not as fuel efficient as a Prius but it is a virtuous car nonetheless ;-) One thing I HIGHLY recommend is getting a jack installed so you can play your ipod in your car. Ford should make that a standard feature
