Zeo - Personal Sleep Coach
Ok so maybe it was a little low to grab 'first to recommend'...but here're the details :) Let's keep it simple. It's an alarm clock. So it tells the time (with white on back digits...awesome...) and wakes you up. Oh, but the Zeo (I refuse to call devices as if they're people!) is also a personal sleep trainer, coach and cheerleader all in one. (I could be wrong on the cheerleader part.) It costs $399. Every night, you wear a soft, foam headband to bed. Using built in electrode sensors, the headband transmits wirelessly to the Zeo, telling it if you're awake, in deep, light, or REM (dream...not 'losing my religion') sleep. The display then shows a graph of the phases for your to review in the morning. But it also does some more. Using that basic data, the Zeo calculates all sorts of numbers and tells you: - Your 'ZQ' - a single score to help you quickly gauge the quantity, quality, and depth of your sleep each night. -'Total Z' – how long you really sleep each night, counting any perceived and unperceived awakenings that it can detect. - 'Time to Z' – the time it took you to fall asleep. - Time in Wake & Times Woken - How long you laid awake, and how many times you woke up - Total amount of REM, Light & Deep sleep. A cool feature is the SmartAwake alarm. You set the time you need to get up (say, 7.) If the Zeo detects that you are in a very light sleep a little prior to 7, it will sound the alarm to wake you up. It wont wake you up any earlier than a 1/2 hour prior to your set time, and if you don't hit any light sleep (say, you did shots all night) it will just sound the alarm normally. Sorry this is so tedious, but there's one bit more...the MyZeo website. Using the included SD memory card, you can transfer al your sleep data to your computer and the website. The site will then graph your data, find trends (like you sleep best at certain times) and ask questions (what did you do before you fell asleep? Did you drink?) to help it help YOU figure out how to get a better night's rest. A 6-month subscription is included with purchase, after that you have to pay. And...that's it. It's a sleep monitor and a smart alarm clock. Perfect for sleep perfectionists, sleep geeks (do they exist?) and....actually, perfectionists and geeks in general should love playing with this thing. Mainly geeks. But yeah, the headband? Not so sexy. Oh, and Zeo corp.? Since I basically just wrote an ad for your product, I'd gladly accept one shipped to my address. To test.
