Internal RF Adapter
This simple device allows users to transmit additional radio frequency commends with their infrared remote controls. The RF receiver that sits with the equipments then converts the RF signals back to infrared to control the equipment. This allows all the equipments to be placed away from direct line of sight, or in cabinet. The user can control the equipment from much further away and without having to point the remote control. This is especially useful if user has a master controller that controls all the equipments.

I hypothesize that several years from now it will be a historic recollection to the days when people actually used remote controls (I foresee technology advancing to a touchless or voice activated remote in the future…maybe even a blink based approach to channel surfing).
