Earth Day 2010: The Update Columbus, Ohio

Earth Day 2010: The Update Columbus, Ohio

It's been 40 years since the first Earth Day was celebrated in the United States. So, why does Earth Day continue to be so important? Odds are you get a cake every year to mark the anniversary of your birth. Well, the earth provides everything that sustains life and what does it get in return? Carbon emissions, landfills, and polluted streams? This year you can get involved in a hundred different ways and pay a little respect to our shared home. The Earth Day Network is sponsoring events around the globe like "The Update" in Columbus, Ohio. For one day you can give thanks, pick up a shovel or clear a stream of debris. It costs you nothing but your time but your service has rippling effects "downstream." Consider finding a volunteer event near your neighborhood or start your own. I have organized my own community clean-up event for 5 years running... and it's a real community builder. So mark your calendar!
