One of my all-time favorite cafes. This candy company distributes candy all over the United States, and they have a little cafe at their headquarters in between Eagle Rock and Pasadena. Great sandwiches, salads and soups!

I'm biased here. A friend of mine works in the kitchen at this restaurant. That said, how can you argue with sausage, beer, and burgers? Not to mention the best matzoh ball soup I've ever had. If you go, I recommend the soup, the boudin basque which is a velvetly lush blood sausage, the piggy burger and any of the rotating menu of ice cream sundaes. The restaurant can be noisy, but the booths are deeply recessed and you can enjoy an almost private dining experience there.

One of these recently opened across the street from my husband's office and I have started eating there about once a month when I meet him for lunch. Their burgers are to die for!
