I'm biased here. A friend of mine works in the kitchen at this restaurant. That said, how can you argue with sausage, beer, and burgers? Not to mention the best matzoh ball soup I've ever had. Not to mention the best matzoh ball soup I've ever had. If you go, I recommend the soup, the boudin basque which is a velvetly lush blood sausage, the piggy burger and any of the rotating menu of ice cream sundaes. The restaurant can be noisy, but the booths are deeply recessed and you can enjoy an almost private dining experience there.

This year’s bottling includes a batch from the El Dorado Hills near Shingle Springs located at about 1000’ elevation. The color is a light amber and the flavors are of sweet spices and fresh cut hay. It has great mouth feel and calls out to be used where the flavors can be highlighted…on cheese plates, in elegant dressings, drizzled over warm fruit desserts or crisps, spooned over grilled figs with some prosciutto and mint, or served with ice cream and the like.

An excellent alternative to the traditional disposable paper plates and only $2.50 a piece or $23.95 for 12 (but maybe for a limited time only?). I am definitely buying these to serve up dessert for my birthday party, and you better believe that it isn't going to be ordinary birthday cake.
