The ear piece is made of clear crystals and rhinestone roundels, set in a silver tone or rhodium plated backing. Under the ear piece are dangling a huge faceted crystal along with a ball rhinestone bead and two small crystals. The earrings are both signed on the back "LOIS ANN". Each earring is 2 3/4"x 1 1/8". The earrings are in excellent vintage condition.

In this specific one I want a bit overboard on the subject finding old images of skulls. the... family portrait, this portrait was for my human oddities theme, I had to do 8 paintings in a semester dealing with human oddities,freaks. In this specific one I want a bit overboard on the subject finding old images of skulls. the large man with the scepter was based on a gigantic human skull. the other head was based on head binding practices of the Incas. the one to the lower center I considered to be the offspring of these two and was based on another odd skull, I perhaps made this one more odd that natural adding crazy hair and fangs. now I think of this one almost as a portrait of a royal family perhaps a family that has a history of inbreeding and because of that has created human abnormalities. ether way I tried to show the giant man as vary powerful holding his scepter he was perhaps angry too. the wrapped skull was the wife of the giant looking off to the side. the child was the one to the lower center with demonic fangs. perhaps something was different about this one a glow of evil illuminates from this one.

They have a storied history though, and they certainly flash it with their new Machine à Ecrire Le Temps automaton. The founder of Jaquet Droz built automatons - self powered, primitive computers or toys that wowed the gilded heads of the day. Things like a wind-up, movable knight in amour. Or a life-size doll which with the press of a button, elegantly scribbled some common writing exercises in a journal. Even a chess playing mechanical man. Seeking to go back to it's roots (and have something to wow with at BaselWorld '09), Jaquet Droz meticulously engineered the fully mechanical (no electricity!) 'Time Typewriter'. Wind a crank, and the gears turn, levers move, pulleys pull, and ultimately, the pen is lifted and moved over an index card - where it proceeds to write out the current time. The YouTube link is to a video of the machine in action. JD is producing these, but essentially upon request - with a price of 400K Swiss Francs, they probably don't have many extras lying around.
