Afternoon Snack by Amanda Spayd

Afternoon Snack is a mixed media piece by Cleveland artist Amanda Spayd. Fabric and clay sculpture, wooden high-chair, antique fork and plate, and cicada molts. Stuffed figure is removable and posable. Approximately 27.00in Wide x 10.00in High. Amanda's work is some of the most genuine and touching that I've seen in a long time. Her creatures are completely alien in most ways, yet their personalities are undeniable and entrancing. Amanda is certainly a star on the rise, and you would do well to snap up her work while it's still affordable.

Johnny Yanok smiles a lot, and it's pretty obvious why: the man is clearly a genius. His works, a combination of digital construction and hand-painted execution, evoke the golden age of illustration in a way that is often imitated but never duplicated. He has effortlessly succeeded where so many have failed, and while his talent certainly plays a part in that it's the man himself that is the reason for his success. Johnny's gentle demeanor and contagious joy infect his work and give it a vibrant life that is unmistakable. From his heroic knight to his animal portraits to the time he did an entire solo show of paintings of fruit, Johnny's humor and laughter are the real prize...his paintings are simply the delightful souvenir of time well-spent in the presence of someone who simply loves life, and knows how to paint it.
