Dragonfly Cakes - Spring Flowers Petit Fours
I'll be a bit boastful, I'm good a throwing teas, scones, tea sandwiches and even a limited selection of desserts I can make well. But, a tea isn't a tea without some pheonmenally delicate dessert. A tea isn't a tea without petit fours. And petit fours are hard to make and make look pretty. Luckily for me Saks takes care of my problem for me by making tasty and cute petit fours in spring pastels with the tiniest little flowers.

I've never seen a cake with such a ... pattern. It's pretty amazing. You can overnight ship this checkerboard cake anywhere in the US (sorry, Alaska and Hawaii...you're too far). Quite the gourmet birthday treat!

So when I look at these pretty macaroons in vanilla, chocolate, coffee and strawberry I think yum, not eew.

And in such flavors as lemon and white chocolate; lavender, lemon and early grey; hazelnut, chocolate and orange; and almond, vanilla, amaretto and chocolate they sounds absolutely heavenly.

Red velvet is my favorite kind of cake when done well (when done bad it's also my lease favorite kind of cake). I have high expectations for my cake and this mini red velvet cake with it's cream cheese frosting, chocolate ganache... I have high expectations for my cake and this mini red velvet cake with it's cream cheese frosting, chocolate ganache and pecans sounds like itm ight be a cake I'll be ordering again and again. And since it's covered in pink and white flowers I find it adorable, which helps set the stage for good cake consumption.

Now, I've made (and consumed!) truffles a plenty, but I've never had a cake truffle. They sound insanely rich (cake dipped in chocolate rolled in toppings) but at two or three bites a piece I suppose that's good. They look very ... Have you noticed that as you get older the food that you loved as a child just doesn't taste as good? As a little girl I loved ice cream sandwiches, the ones you got from the ice cream man with the bad chocolate cookie and the basic vanilla ice cream. As an adult they don't taste quite as fantastic as they did. Lucky for me there are better ice cream sandwiches out there..sandwiches stuffed with lemon, strawberry and chocolate gelato on better cookies. MMmm!
