Bird's Custard Powder
Add milk and sugar and voila! The creamiest, yummiest custard ever. I use it for Irish trifle- layer fresh berries, jams, custard and pound cake sprinkled with sherry (of COURSE there's booze in it. Did you expect otherwise from me?). Bird's is the only "real" custard on earth, in my opinion.... ; )
My lifelong obsession with toast began right here, with this bread. It's been my absolute favorite since I was a little girl... the perfect bread for toasted sandwiches at 2 in the morning on a rainy night.
Think gelatin, not jam. And ignore how awful this sounds and just try it- mix a packet of this with chopped beets and let it set. I know what you're thinking but I swear to God it's delicious....
