Her he eschews more mainstream pop music to explore a slightly darker side. Employing some really great comrades in legendary African drummer Tony Allen, ex-Clash bassist Paul Simonon, and the Verve's guitarist Simon Tong. Given the rhythm section, there definitely could have been stronger African influences, but it's still a really interesting album, with some great songs on it. And bully to him for getting Paul Simonon to come out of retirement!

  • every year or so one reggae song crosses over into mainstream american music, or at least it gets played on all the urban and hip hop stations. remember when damian marley's song "welcome to jamrock" took over the world a few sum... every year or so one reggae song crosses over into mainstream american music, or at least it gets played on all the urban and hip hop stations. remember when damian marley's song "welcome to jamrock" took over the world a few summers ago? i loved it, but i was already involve with mr. junior gong because he's 2nd album, "halfway tree," had been the soundtrack to many of my college all-nighters. writing papers as the young marley sang about educated fools ruining world. sang about still searching for love. did a great cover of one of my favorite bob marley songs "catch a fire." he won a grammy for this album. truly genius.
