Phil & Teds E3 Stroller

Phil & Teds E3 Stroller

As a new parent, I can no longer tolerate poor design. This stroller solves a number of family transportation problems in one fell swoop. Here's the shortlist: Modestly generous undercarriage storage. Runnable and joggable, able to carry two young offspring in a single bound (with the jumpseat), 12" pneumatic tires, reflective material accents, heavy-duty nylon fabric, padded five-point seatbelt harness, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Designed by 4Moms, the contraption takes strollers where no baby buggy has gone before, fitted with a ton of capabilities intended to make life easy while you take your spawn around town. Plus, it's hella cool too. Watch other parents stick out their tongues drooling (okay, maybe just look on amused) when you begin showing off its nifty, little talents.

I have a large one of these that I received with training materials when I started working... someplace cool. I hadn't seen them anywhere else, but it wasn't long before I found a use for the big one: It's my travel toiletries kit. It zips on top, is easy to see what's in there, and it 'breathes' - so in the event that my toothbrush isn't entirely moisture-free when I stuff it in, there's not going to be a musty surprise when I next open the pouch. At my current job, one of the guys has several of the small bags connected by a carabiner. He keeps a pen and notepad in one, his keys in another, his phone in another, and so on. Now. Without commenting on his 'not-a-manpurse' organization system, it got me to thinking about how I could use a similar system to organize my own bag. The problem? I had no idea where to find these outside of SoHo, NY. Google to the rescue. I love MoMA anyway, but they win mad points for not only having these bags, but for offering them at a low price. Yay!

Once baby becomes a toddler you can simply add the toddler seat and not have to replace everything. The toddler seat works in rear facing position with the base, and in forward facing position without the base. So if you have a friend that has a baby, you can gradually hand down each piece of your Orbit Set as you no longer need them.

A stroller is one of those things I spent hours and days and weeks agonizing over before having my first baby. What brand, how much should it weigh, how small is it when folded up, etc. In the end, we bought a stroller/infant seat combo and used iit about a dozen times when my daughter was small. (I actually preferred carrying her in the baby bjorn over pushing a humongous stroller.) But the stroller we have used the most – BY FAR – is this umbrella stroller. Your baby probably won't be ready for it until he/she is old enough to sit up (there isn’t a lot of support), but after that, you’ll use this in the airport, at the mall, at the amusement park, for walks around the block, and everywhere else. And if it gets banged up or lost, it is inexpensive enough to replace. But after 5 years, my umbrella stroller is still in great shape, traveled all over the country and has carried two kids. We keep one in my car and one in my husband’s car at all times! You won’t want to leave home without this one.

  • We loved how compact and light this stroller was. It worked fantastic with our car-seat and I never had a problem lifting it out of the back of the vehicle. It worked well with our busy lifestyle!
