If you only try one Japanese snack, make sure its Pocky! Of course once you do try it, you'll be back for more. Crispy biscuit sticks coated in yummy chocolate. Need I say more? You count ask for a more perfect and simple snack. No visit to the international supermarket is complete without the Pocky - most of which gets eaten on the way home.

They make something I have never seen before - candybox cakes. I enjoy great cakes and have seen some of the best, but these are in a class of their own. The creator, Raadhika, tells me the cakes are inspired by jewelry. They look it as well - absolutely majestic and beautiful. To make the cakes, Raadhika hollows them out with fondant (sugar paste) icing and fills the centre with hand-made truffles or liqueur chocolates. For fruity flavors, she does variations like chocolate-dipped strawberries. She uses regular fondant as well as chocolate-flavoured fondant to cover hercakes. Check out her pretty basket weave pattern for a different look. Also, have a look at the prince and heart-shaped cakes. Cake flavours include vanilla, chocolate fudge, orange, blueberry-almond, orange marmalade, dates and others. Raadhika matches the fillers to the actual cake flavour; eg the marmalade cake has white chocolate citrus truffles as fillers. Her daughter does beautiful sugar roses using fondant to decorate her cakes. I couldn't bring myself to cut one. I had someone else do it for me! But I am glad I did because it was simply delicious - not overly sweet, moist and flavorful. I think these cakes are extraordinary.
