How Could It Be: Eddie Murphy

How Could It Be: Eddie Murphy

The year was 1985 when Eddie Murphy made what could easily be one of my favorite songs in the entire world. How Could It Be features the hit single "Party All the Time." Written and Produced by (I'M) Rick James (Bitch) and Kevin Johnston, this song reached #2 on Billboard top 100 during its heyday. In 2006 it was remixed by DJ Sharam Tayebi of Deep Dish and that reached #8 in the UK. This song never gets old. Never.

Some of you may recognize Christian TV (Christian Berishaj) as the former lead singer of Love Arcade. The first single of this newly formed solo effort is the aggressive synth-pop "When She Turns 18", which clearly demonstrates the evolution of Christian's sound as an artist. This kid is crazy talented and I can't wait to see what he turns out next! Britney Spears even tweeted that it was her "song of the summer".

  • THis is an outstanding live set, beatufully filmed and sounds fantastic.Their take on Viva La Vida alone makes the album worth hearing.

  • One of my new favorite albums. It's electro-pop, with a hint of the 80s mixed in.

This is one of those albums that’s so captivating, you feel swept away to another place (in this case someplace basked in sunlight, at the edge of the ocean). If an album can be measured by how many days it’s been on repeat in my music player, well let’s just say this one is phenomenal. And the vocalist sounds just like the lead singer from Relient K. Oh wait... that IS the lead singer from Relient K. ;o)

  • MGMT! These two guys are young and soulful if I may say so with a bit of experimental and psyc rock to it, it's a perfect mix for those summer drives.

Drums that sound straight off Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack? Check. Guitar solo that harkens back to Uncle Jesse from Full House? Check. Tambourines? Check. Fade outs on nearly every song? Check. That nagging feelings that it’s 1995 and you need to hurry home in time for The Wonder Years? Check. My personal fav from this album is Pictures.

They tour with a full band, but the front man Christian Berishaj is the sole of Love Arcade's content. He wrote, recorded, produced, played, and sang everything on his debut. There are so many great tracks like Sara, Keep It Comin' and Party (featured on an episode of The Hills), but Moses is a track that I don't think got nearly enough credit.

This has got to be the greatest piece of officially licensed merchandise for a band that I have seen in ages! This shirt is basted entirely on the cover of New Order's renowned first album Movement. This is a great shirt for any New Order fan. My husband is seething with jealously that this shirt was made for women, and therefore, won't fit him :) A bit of history from wikipedia: The album's cover was designed by Peter Saville and is based on a Futurist poster by Fortunato Depero. 'F' refers to Factory Records / Factory Communications Limited and 'L' the roman numeral 50 - the album being classified as FAC50. The blue colour was chosen by the band, although initial copies in America had the same design with a white background.
