A brilliant first feature film by video artist Steve McQueen about the story of IRA member Bobby Sands and the hunger strike he undertook while imprisoned in the early 1980s. Without posing moral judgement, the film highlights the subjectivity and power of conviction as well as its possible profundity and futility. This movie is scarce on dialogue but has one of the sharpest written 15 minute, single shot dialogue scenes I've ever had the pleasure of viewing.

Sure, a lot of people were hating on this film, but I liked it. No, nothing for the history books. However, it's a good mindless thriller. If you're looking for intense shoot-em-up, this is your film.

One of TV's best drama/action shows. 24 is relevant to today's world, gripping, intriguing and just an amazing show. The new season starts Jan 09 on FOX. Highly recommend this show.
