Worthog Tin Animal
When I read about these kids that earn their way by making this art in Zimbabwe - had to have one. Chose the elephant and adore it!! Old tin cans and other scraps of metal from businesses in the industrial areas of Harare are turned into these delightful sculptures by artsits using snips, pliers and hammers. They depict animals familiar in Zimbabwe. Crafted by Improved Arts Metal Sculptors Project, which was started in 1986 by five brothers - Moses Mkankha, Peter Mkankha, Norman Mkankha, Charles Banda, and Emmanuel Homodza. The brothers came from a poor background, and founded the group to depict African natural history through metalwork and to earn a better living.
Perfect for a baby's room! adorable without trying!
Love this color combination. Very sophisticated. and there are plates to match the platter.
Did you know it is good luck to buy an elephant with his trunk up? That's why elephants are always done this way. Think he'll be cute this winter inside in the family room, then going out into the garden in the spring.
