Timbuk2 isn't the first name you think of when you start looking for luggage, and that's because they've pretty much only been known for making fantastic computer bags. They recently decided to kick things up a notch and jump into travel bags as well, and if you're a bag-head like I am, you'll definitely want to pick up one of these and put it to good use. Everyone has a favorite bag, and this is mine. I really hope all the other bags in my closet didn't hear this, because they might mutiny. The Doctor is a versatile bag that pops open on top with a spring loaded entry system, just like an old doctor's bag that they'd bring over when they do housecalls. It looks snappy, and is made out of thick ripstop ballistic fabric. Inside, there are several organizer pockets, and plenty of room. I'm able to pack enough junk in here for an entire weekend, including shoes, two changes of clothes, toiletries, a book, my notebook, my laptop, and a few other various sundries. It has compression straps attached to the top, so you can also really pack this up and crank it down tight, keeping it compact. I took this bag with me to Sundance, because I needed something extra besides my rollaboard to pack up with winter clothes. This one held quite an abundance of warm gear, including extra sweaters, a hoodie, my tennis shoes, and lots of t-shirts. I also stuck my gloves, scarf, and other various winter necessities inside. This bag really can do just about anything you want it to, and it's worth having one bag that you can use for multiple adventures.

They recently decided to kick things up a notch and jump into travel bags as well, and if you're a bag-head like I am, you'll definitely want to pick up one of these and put it to good use. This bag is really two bags in one, because you get the full Suitcase, with an attached laptop compartment that can zip off and become its own bag. Perfect for business travelers! I took this one up to San Francisco for work, and I could literally check into the hotel, drop the bag in the room, unzip the laptop compartment, sling it over my shoulder and head off to my meeting. It doesn't feel gimmicky, but it just plain works for some reason. The bag features tons of internal pockets, and also has hidden pockets behind the back padding. Internal compression straps keep everything inside tied down tight, and I was able to carry enough gear for three days in this thing, including my laptop, power cables, and external hard drive. It also has a luggage pass through so you can slide this down the handle of your rollaboard, if you need to travel with more luggage. This thing works best for bloggers, techies, people on the go, and folks who just hate carrying more than one bag. It easily fits in an overhead, and the zip-off feature makes people look twice and turn green with envy.

They recently decided to kick things up a notch and jump into travel bags as well, and if you're a bag-head like I am, you'll definitely want to pick up one of these and put it to good use. The Patrol bag is for people who don't like rollaboard bags, and this one actually offers a lot more versatility than your standard piece of flight luggage. It has tuck-away shoulder straps, a separate laptop compartment, several organizer compartments (great for gear and gadgets), and even his several pockets hidden behind the padding on the back of the pack. The external compression straps will let you pack it full of clothes for a weekend trip, or you can toss in some books and gear and take it to school. There are side pockets, external pockets, and internal pockets galore, so it'll hold whatever you toss at it. It's like a backpack with gusto, and offers a much easier (and more comfortable) way to haul your gear around. This one went with me when I headed back to Texas to visit friends and family, and my brother wanted to go out and buy one of his own after messing around with it. It's literally the only bag I've spent time with that could be a luggage bag, work bag, gym bag, and a computer gear bag all at the same time. Plus, any bag that tucks a water bottle pocket on the outside is tops in my book.

Timbuk2's Checkpoint bag comes in two sizes, Medium, which fits into overhead compartments, and Large, which you'll have to check. It rolls around on skateboard wheels which you can take off or change out on your own, features a shovel-style pop out handle, built-in strap that hides away to carry a second bag, a hidden inside compartment for valuables, and nice touches like an included luggage tag and a slash pocket for sticking your airline ticket into. I recently took one of these to Sundance, and it held a ton of winter clothes due to the internal compression straps, and since it has handles on all four sides you can pick it up any way you want. Three people asked me where I'd picked this bag up, and the bright colors make it easy to spot on luggage conveyer belts. If you're looking for a rollaboard replacement bag, look no further than this one.
