  • This runs great on the treo! TomTom is an excellent navigation system. I love being able to see where we are in real time and see what we are passing by as we fly down the interstate. (Not while I'm driving, of course!)

DateBk6 is powerful and easy to use - so many options that allow you to personalize your calendar to fit the way you need to use it. I use the "float" option for things that i need to do that aren't date specific, etc. Well worth the money and worth checking out. It makes keeping up with my schedule an easy task instead of a frustrating one.

The Krzr has a much thinner width than the Razr. Feature wise the Krzr has a 1.3 mega pixel camera, bluetooth, offers Micro SD memory expansion, and all the usual standards found on cell phones. The one thing I really liked about the phone were the outer music keys. These are found on the outer flip cover and can be accessed while the phone is closed. This came in handy a lot during my work outs whenever I had forgotten my ipod and had to use the Krzr as my music player. Battery life though was a bit lacking with this phone. I noted how by late evening the Krzr was down to 1 or 2 bars of life even though I had not used the phone much.

The Palm Treo 700wx gets my vote as an essential item on any student's list. This phone/PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) combines the functionality of your typical cellular phone and also those darn cool palm type digital organizers. The main advantages to a device such as the Treo 700wx is how it stores in one compact place all of your information such as contacts, appointments, word documents, excel spreadsheets, picture files, any audio, and also video. But the most important aspect is how easy it is to access your information whenever and wherever you need it. I personally have used this particular device for over a year now. Yes the learn curve can be steep for some. But once a person gets over the little quirks of the Windows Mobile interface, which can be easily customized for your needs through third party programs, a person begins to wonder how they were ever able to live without one. As an individual who is working full time as well as taking on a full load of college courses, my Treo has been indispensable in helping me keep track of my professional, school and personal agendas. I recommend this product fully to any person unafraid of technology, is able to set the time on their microwave ovens, and has a schedule which is way, way overloaded.

I send email from my treo all the time. Versamail (the built-in treo email software) makes you watch its silly dialog box every time you send an email. If there was a problem (say you're underground in the parking garage) you have to figure out how to resend it later. At that point, I might as well hop on my pony and deliver the message myself. Chatter just seems to do what's right. As soon as you press "send", you can switch out of chattermail and look at your calendar or make a phone call. Chatter will get it done in the background. If it runs into a truly insurmountable problem, it'll pop up an alert. Chatter is so blackberry-cool, I've even started reading email on my treo, occasionally. Needless to say, all that background goodness for sending messages applies to receiving messages as well. And more.

Compared to my beloved treo 650, it trades the 650's touch screen for wifi. I'm convinced that any navigation that involves the treo's touch screen is about five times slower than using the ubiquitous rocker button interface, so that doesn't seem like much of a loss. And the wifi is a huge gain! It's much smaller than the treo. The screen is lower resolution, but the quality seemed on par with the treo 650. Of course it does run Windows Mobile rather than PalmOS. The main reasons I'm afraid of Windows Mobile are: I would have to re-purchase all the apps I already own on PalmOS; I'd have to migrate all my calendar, contact, etc data from the treo; I don't know how well Windows Mobile syncs with linux. I haven't heard great things about Windows Mobile in general, but then PalmOS is nothing to write home about either. It's benefited from nothing but the most cosmetic updates over the past 10 years. They seem to be in the same position Apple was in 2000. If they can successfully make the leap to Access Linux Platform (analogous to Apple's OSX), they might stay ahead of Microsoft. But it looks to me like Palm is currently focusing on new hardware rather than overhauling their aging OS.
