Wednesday evening , I headed off to Gene Simmons & Wolfgang Puck’s Rocktoberfest at LA Live not really knowing what to expect. I’d hoped to see Gene Simmons performing as well as Eric Dill who used to be the lead singer for the Click Five. It was a wonderful fun evening and while I didn’t see Simmons on stage, Eric totally rocked the house with his renditions of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing”, Radiohead’s “Creep” and (I think it’s by the Outfield) “Your Love”. He was backed by some of the all star band that Simmons put together for the event, Eric Dover/Guitar (Slash’s Snake Pit, Jellyfish), Brent Woods/Lead Guitar (played with Vince Neil), Michael Devin (Whitesnake and European sensation Steamroller), Matt Laug/Drummer (Alanis Morissette, Christina Aguilera, Richard Marx, etc.), Teddy Andreas/Keyboards (appeared with Carole King, Slash, Ziggy Marley, etc) and Big Jim Wheeler/Sax (toured with Kenny Loggins, Loggins and Messina, ABC, Slash’s Snake Pit). Eric just released his first solo single “War with the Wolves” just in time for Halloween. The full album I hear will be out in November. Watch the video - it’s sure to become a cult classic! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sd8zt0_YI0c Eric on iTunes at: http://bit.ly/EricDill

A quick glance at the fifth Epic album by Chicago-based rock trio Chevelle may give their legions of longtime fans pause. Sci-Fi Crimes song titles like “Roswell” and “Highlands Apparition” have the same guys who delivered 2004’s dynamically crunchy This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In) and the melodic heaviosity of 2007’s Vena Sera gone conspiracy-theory flaky, wearing tinfoil hats and praying to Mr. Spock. Hard work, determination and success go hand and hand—and no one understands that better than STORY OF THE YEAR. In that spirit it should come as no surprise that these post-hardcore sensations decided to title their fourth full-length The Constant. However that doesn’t mean that the band’s latest disc isn’t a logical progression for St. Louis’ favorite breakout act. Taken from Amazon.com

In November of 1970 James Taylor and Carole King first performed together at the Troubadour on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, California. Taylor had just released his debut album for the Beatles' newly formed Apple Records and King was finding her way as a first time solo performer even though by then she was a famous songwriter with a string of hits for other artists. When they returned to the club for a two-week co-headlining run in 1971 their lives were somewhat different. That summer Taylor's "Fire and Rain" was topping the charts and King's landmark Tapestry was on its way to making her a music superstar. Thirty-six years later, in November 2007, James Taylor, Carole King and members of their renowned original band "The Section" (featuring guitarist Danny Kortchmar, bassist Leland Sklar and drummer Russell Kunkel) returned to the Troubadour for a three-night, six-show run to celebrate the venue's 50th anniversary. Those historic shows are documented in Live at the Troubadour, a special 2-disc CD/DVD. This remarkable recording, culled from these unforgettable shows, features 15 songs and 75 minutes of pristine video and audio including stunning performances of the pair's most beloved hits such as Carole King's "So Far Away," "It's Too Late," and "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?" as well as James Taylor's "Carolina in My Mind," "Sweet Baby James," and "Fire and Rain," to name just a few. In the future when we've all forgotten U2 and their 2010 tour will this button become some sort of a Rorshock test--it's a image of Saturn? No it's a logo for Chicken Foot! Oh no I've got it! It's it a toothpick with a twist of lemon?

A Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Aung San Suu Kyi has been described as Asia's Nelson Mandela. This book is a series of conversations w/Bono, lead singer of U2 and one of the few celebrities who use their fame to improve the world. I love U2 but I read this book more as a case study in leadership, commitment, and contribution, not as a fan. If you want to get a sense for how a highly charismatic leader built a global brand and is changing the world, I recommend you read this. Great for entrepreneurs, activists, and people who want to effectively engage the world. Good for fans too ;-)

So there we are, listening to U2 and New Years Day thinking that the present and the past comes together, for a brief moment...all is quiet for just a moment. The rose is symbol of forever to me.. I made it in fine silver recycled from photographic film and plated it in 24K gold on the back side is the same rose but not plated so you can wear it either side facing out. I put it on a strong brass chain with a copper rose clasp. The chain is 20" long and the piece 1.5" long and 1" wide. For woman or a man. I can exchange the rose clasp if you wish.
