“I suppose we’ve always been maximalists,” says Alstair McAuley of Timorous Beasties, the Glasgow-based company known for its exquisite oversize-pattern wallpapers and fabrics. McAuley and partner Paul Simmons have a flair for the subversive, too: Glasgow Toile substitutes an urban milieu with drug addicts, homeless and working prostitutes for traditional Toile de Jouy scenery—which comes in either wallcoverings or textiles, as shown on the armchair.

This wallpaper eliminates the need for a 3D object for a light source. The wallpaper can be turned on or off as the light source. I think it's boss. I don't own this, but I really respond to the idea and the visual.

Mustachio. Available in several colors, all of which I could find a place for at my house. What I love about this particular pattern is that the whimsy cavorts alongside what appears to be a very elegant pattern. It's one of those things where if you didn't KNOW it was actually a series of mustaches well... you just wouldn't know. Take the graphite color option, for example. What a gorgeous backdrop for jewel-toned holiday decor. Can you imagine how great blues, greens and reds would look against it? Oooh, I can.....

I assume it scales depending on the size of your wall. The darkly amusing text on the website: "The Octopus originates from a well known fish merchant (Pescheria Brunelli) in Bologne and was photografed on location for the gohome collection by C.S.Kisselbach. The octopus was treat respectfully and after its grand appearance was cooked and eaten. "
